Zell-Lancaster County. Sorry I didn't make a note of this, but I did remember because I did Zell for a buddy of my husband, but I gave him all that I found. So I have to start from scratch. James C. Leisey, was born in Cocalico township, Lancaster, Feb, 25, 1853, His parents, Frank and Barbara (Zell ) Leisey. Children of Frank and Barbara (Zell), Martin, James C., Frank, Emma, the wife of Albert Book, Alice married Milton Long, of Lancaster, Sarah, Reuben and Allen. The paternal grandfather of James C. Leisey was Joseph, of Lancaster, and his maternal grandparents were Nicholas and Barbara (Keel) Zell. Zell, Edwin Morrison. D.D.S. of Little Britian township. He was born in Colerain township, on Nov 29, 1832. The family orginated in Prussia, and settled in Chester county, where occured the birth of his father, the well known Rev. Isaac Zell, who for 40 years was a notable minster in this state. (Methodist). Isaac Zell, was born in 1794, a son of Adam Zell, a well-known miller of Cambridge, Chester county, and died in Little Britain township in 1870. In 1822 he married to Elizabeth Swift, and they reared 11 children. Joseph Swift, died in 1900, Emmor E., who died in 1895, John W., Dr, Edwin M., Isaac B., who died in 1901, Dr. Amos B., of Fairmount, Daniel D., of Churchtown,, William R., Martha E., married Dr. Edwin Patterson, Elizabeth J., and Samuel A., the other children of Adam Zell, Adam, John, Barbara, Margaret, Henrietta Ann and Catharine. On Oct 8, 1863, Edwin Morrison Zell married Abi Hand, of Little Britian township. They had3 children; Dora, died young, Edwin, died young, and James Harry, who died 1891 Zell, John W., M.D., son of Isaac and Elizabeth (Swift) Zell., was born Dec. 27, 1829. He married 1st in 1865 to Mary R. Patterson, d/o James. He married 2nd to Mary Bell Johnson, was born 1834. No children were born to either union.
