Nathan Houck, was born March 24, 1818 at Boyerstown, Berks Co. On April 14, 1841 he married Laanna Deetz and had children; John D.; Charles, born Jan 1,1845; Franklin, born May 29, 1847 and died in infancy; Elizabeth who married Dr. Fletcher Gilpin; Amanda, married Emory Gilpin; Emma married Frank Nicholson, Anna M., and Carrie M., who married Dr. Arthur Simons. On the paternal side, Jacob Deetz (grandfather) who came from Germany at an early day, and a grandson of Abraham Deetz, of Bucks Co. Abraham Deetz married Elizabeth Berger, d/o Abraham Berger, a farmer in CT and they had children as follows; Caroline, married 1st Charles Schheisle, and 2nd to Jesse Deetz, Laanna, mother of subject; Charles, married Mary Yeager; Elia, married Sarah Auburn; Mariah, married Elias Althaus; William, married Hester Weidner; Livy, married James Althaus, Thomas, married Caroline Nace; Edward married Hannah Thomas; Sarah married William Seller; Daniel, married Emma Ott; Catharine, married John W.
