Dauphin County History Bayard, Henry, was born in 1812, s/o James A. and Ann (Bassett) Bayard. Hon. Richard Bassestt, the maternal grandfather of Henry M. Bayard, son of Michael Bassett, and Judith Heran, of Bohemia Manor, was born in 1735 and died in 1815. He died leaving his estate to his only daughter, Anne, the wife of the Hon. James Bayard. James A. Bayard, father of Henry M. Bayard, was born July 5, 1767, and died Aug 16, 1815. He was the son of Dr. James and Ann (Hodge) Bayard. Henry M. Bayard died Aug 1886 about age 74. He married Emma, d/o John and Mary Shipley Dixson and they had nine children; Annie C., married John Johnstone, and they in Australia, Edward, James, Mary S., Catharine L., Elizabeth L., wife of Dr. J. N. Fitzmathew, Lucy A., wife of C.A. Messiter, Constance, and Joseph S. Edward Bayard, s/o Henry and Emma, was married Dec 29, 1874 to Ella, d/o Thomas and Elizabeth Steers of VA. Children; Henry, born 1884, James Ashton, born 1875, Charles M. born 1877, Lucy Ashton, born 1879, Constance, born 1881, Richard Basset, born 1888 Joseph S.
