Gerhart Lebanon County History Jacob G. Gerhart, subject, of Lebanon County. Mr. Gerhart, is of German extraction, the first of the American branch of the family to come from Germany and settled in Berks County about 1750. Henry Gerhart, son of the emigrant, is the first of whom we have and extended data. He settled on a farm in Bethel township. He married and had 6 children; Wendell, John, Jacob, George, William and Susanna who married John Walner. George Gerhart, was born in Bethel township in 1811. He married Rebecca Peifer, and 2nd to Eva Harnis, by the 1st marriage he had 3 children; Pollie who married John Edris, Isaac from MO., and Mollie who married Benjamin Mich. By his 2nd marriage, he had children; Amanda who married John Edris, Berks county, Malinda, who married Adam Gerbrich, Levi S., Elias, George, of Berks County, Eva twin of George, who married Henry Urich of Reading, Phianna, who married T.D. Brownmiller of Schuyikill Haven, and Leah who married Albert Pittle. Elias Gerhart, father of Jacob G., married Fannie Wolf and had a large family. Jacob G., was born at Mt. Zion, Feb. 2, 1873, he married Oct. 14, 1894 to Mary Hoffman, of Greble, Bethel township, who was born Dec. 22, 1872 Gerhart, Conrad G., mayor of the city of Lebanon and he was born there, Sept. 16, 1841, son of William and Elizabeth (Uhler) Gerhart. Conrad Gerhart, his grandfather, was a native of Germany, who emigrated to America, and settled in Lebanon at an early day. William Gerhart, son of Conrad and father of Hon. Conrad, was born in Lebanon. He married Elizabeth Uhler. d/o Michael, a native of Germany. In 1864, Mayor Conrad Gerhart married Catherine Ritter, who was born in Franklin Co. She died in 1890 Barnet-Dauphin County John Barnet, 4th in descent from John Barnet, who came from Londonderry, Ireland to PA., prior to 1730 and settled near the North mountain then Hanover township, Lancaster county, was born Aug 18, 1752, in Hanover township. He married Mary McEwen, on April 29, 1784. She was born Sept. 9, 1762 amd died March 10, 1806 . Barnet, John J., of Steelton, PA., was born in Middletown township, Dauphin county, PA., Oct 2, 1838. s/o George and Barbara (Snyder) Barnet, she was the d/o Christian and Mary Snyder. Mr. Barnet's maternal grandparents were native of Wurtemberg, Germany. His parents were natives of Dauphin County, where his father was born July 29, 1813 and his mother, Oct 12, 1812. They married in 1838. John J., married Harriet A., d/o John and Susan (Wise) Gurtner of Cumberland County. Best Wishes, Geri
