I am continuing a renewed look into my ancestral families of southeastern Berks County. Records from the Karver family Bible prove that my ancester Emma Barbara Ann Karver was born to parents Daniel Karver & Mary Ann Grow and that Mary Ann's parents were Peter Grow & Hannah Gottshall. I have located this family in the Earl township region of Berks County. While I have been able--via strong circumstantial evidence--to identify Hannah's father as Philipp Gottshall (son of Michael Gottshall), I have hit a stonewall with Peter Grow/Groh (or even perhaps Grau). I have been able to successfully trace Peter Grow & his wife Hannah from 1830 to 1857; however, I then lose track of Hannah (her husband died about 1856). I would appreciate any information that would help me identify the following: 1. Peter Grow's ancestry & origins. 2. Hannah Grow's residence and history after her husband's death. 3. Information on Grow children other than my ancestor Mary Ann Grow. 4. Any information as to whether the Boyertown Lutheran church (now St. John's) has burial or marriage records. [I own a copy of baptisms from 1811-1890, but the book does not indicate if other records exist.] (data follows) Sincerely, Ed Wevodau Grapevine, TX CHURCH SEARCH: Falkner Swamp Lutheran KB, New Hanover tp., Montgomery County, PA: Peter Groh m. 5 Dec 1830 Hanna Gotschall Boyertown Lutheran KB, Berks County, PA [alias St. John's Lutheran KB]: 131, 160, 10, 110, 116, 122, 132, 152 IMPORTANT: Peter Grow's surname is given as Groe, Grofe, or Groff in these records. The discrepancy is likely due to the translater's misreading of "h" in German script, which can look like an "f." It is significant to note that the surname "Grau" remains distinct in the record. Apparently Peter Grow was not related to the Grau's in the churchbook.
