I think and have thought also, that if we just will listen to our conscience, it will give us names. McKinney is one I have been hearing, but I had a grade school principal by that name and ignored it. And among the SMITH family in Westmoreland Co. was a McKinney. I have yet to be able to do anything because I haven't pinpointed my James Brady SMITH's parents yet. I had an article publishd in KENTUCKY ANCESTORS (My 1st one) in which I tried to explain this sorting out of names and spellings by sound, to no avail, it seems, as, when I emailed the Head of the KY History Center re the publication number being dated two years before arrival, I got a short answer. So, I know he has gotten some flack, but there are many, many people who do not know their surnames were spelled in a different way, way back when. I even brought it out that the people who were douing the PA ARCHIVES, had WORTHAMPTON CO., instead of NORTHAMPTON. W/M/N can be taken for each other from deciphering by different people, because they don't realize the possibilities here. I even found a PHITZSIMMONS in Sumner Co., TN, when I was working on an F name. I then wrot a cousin, and she said "No wonder we can't find these people. Only she put an ! after it. After all, could the GRIDER family of Warren Co., KY also be the KREIDER family of PA???? Pure FRUSTRATION. ----- Original Message ----- From: "geri brennan" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]>; <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, November 19, 2006 9:26 AM Subject: Re: [PALEHIGH] messinger > okay, maybe this will help > 1790c > worst, henry-cumru twp.-berks co. > > worst, henry-dauphin co. > > kessler, philip-strasburg-lancasterco > kessler, sebastian-strasburg-lancaster co > kessler, andrew-salisbury twp-lancaster co > > worst, peter-salisbury twp-lancaster co > > cramer, john-strasburg-lancaster co > > sell, jacob-york co. > sell, adam-york co > > > shroeder, jacob-york co > shroeder, rev.-york co > worst, jacob-york co > > lancaster co-births > worst > anna margaret 4 feb 1748 jacob and annna dorothy-muddy creek ref. > > heinrich bp 22 june 1755 jacob and __ > records of rev, john waldschmidt > > johann jacob bp 1749 jacob and __ > same > maria juliana bp 6 april 1751 jacob and __ same > > wurst > mary, d/o jacob wurst and anna dorothea bp oct 1, 1746-muddy creek > > john peter wurst, s/o jacob, bp 8 june 1753, sp peter klein and margaret > brunner > > st. james episcopal > 1759 june 13 adam werst (west) to elizabeth wench, license > > `1775 may 1 joseph corel to rebecca hall > > bucks co. > anna maria d/o michael flechser and catharine, born july 2, 1761. sp. > peter werst and maria koch > > martha, as you know, there's a heck of a lot of wertz/werts/wortz/wortz > but very few werst/worst > > lancaster co. history > worst, henry, was born in salisbury twp, s/o henry, sr., and mary (kurtz) > worst > > the worst family was established in lancaster co., about 1760 by 3 > brothers, who came from switzerland, one settling in germantown, one in > cornwall, lebanon co., and one in terre hill, lancaster co. > > the paternal grandparents of mr. worst, subject, were peter and barbara > (weaver) worst > > henry worst sr., of salisbury, was born in 1795 and died at age 89. he > married mary kurtz, d/o samuel and barbara (showalder) kurtz of lancster. > she died in 1843, age 44 and was buried next to her husband on part of the > old farm in a private cemetery.. members of the mennonite ch. children; > barbara married john wanner, peter married maria good, samuel married > nancy kurtz, elias married SUSAN GAYBILL, mary married joseph h. bair, > elizabeth, susanna married daniel kurtz, henry, subject, leah died age 6 > and catharine died at 18 > > henry worst, was a postmaster. he was a member of the presbyterian ch. > > in 1863 he married in providence twp to suusan FRAILEY born in earl twp., > aug. 26, 1838, d/o daniel and anna (long) FRAILICK, the former died in > paradise in 1888 and the latter died 1886 age 61. they were resoecuvkey > members of the mennonite and dunkard churchs, and they were interred in > mellinger's cemetery. their chldren were joseph, daniel of harrisburg, > married lillie herr, anna married henry brown of paradise, rebecca widow > of elias herman of lancaster, abby married john wright of lancaster, susan > w/o henry worst. her maternal grandparnts were jonathan and susan (reno) > long. > > children of mr. and mrs. worst; catharine, widow of clayton de haven; > clayton married margaret bowers, henry married mazie kurtz and anna, > > Best Wishes, Geri > > > -----Original Message----- > From: martha w. jackson > Sent: Saturday, November 18, 2006 7:41 PM > To: [email protected] > Subject: Re: [PALEHIGH] messinger > > Got an email back from Roberta Eddy, in which she located Peter WIRTH & > wife, Magdelena, and several others.
