Kahler-Northumberland County Kahler, William S., of Upper Mahanoy township since 1876 belongs to a family which has been located in Juniata County, since his grandfather, Philip Kahler came to the country from Germany in 1852. He landed at Castle Garden, NY, and proceeded to Juniata County. He and his wife are buried at Leinniger's Church. Mr. and Mrs. Philip Kahler had children as follolw: Margaretha who married Henry Ford, Barbara, who married Barney Fogel, William, George. George Kahler, son of Philip was a native of Germany, came to this country at age 14 with his parents. He lived in Greenwich, Juniata County. Members of Leininger's Church, where he is buried. His 1st marriage was to Amelia Snyder d/o Jonas. Children: Catharine, who married William Feltmam, Philip, died in infancy, Louisa, married Amos Howerter, William S., Susan, married Jacob Mitterling. For his second wife Mr. Kahler married Lydia Hallman, and they had, Edward and George H., of Jackson township. William S. Kahler, was born Aug 9, 1856 in Greenwhich township, Juniata County. In 1880 he married Mary Howerter the only daughter of Elias and Caroline (Leffler) Howerter. Children, 1.Katie who married Francis M. Paul of Shamokin,d/o William Paul, and they had one child, Verna. 2. Francis H., who married Eliza Paul, and they had one son, Clarence W. Howerter, Johan Peter, son of Adam Howerter came to Northumberland County with his father. He married Elizabeth Diehl, was born Aug 27, 1778, d/o Johannes Diehl and sister of his brother wife Catharine. Mrs. Howerter died July 6, 1860, the mother of the following; Solomon,Peter, Daniel, Abraham, Elizabeth who married Peter Zerfink, Catharine who married Peter Stoudt and Polly, who married Daniel Bloom. Solomon Howerter, son of John Peter, was born Feb 1, 1805 he died June 25, 1878, and his wife Mary (Helper), born Feb 7, 1808 and died June 14, 1876. They are buried at Howerter Church. Children, Elias, died June 30, 1907, aged 79, and his only child, Mary married William S. Kahler. York County-Kohler Kohler, Adam of Dallastown, was born in York County, Jan 1, 1842, son of Jacob and Mary (Sechrist). He had 5 brothers and 3 sisters, George, Eli, Jacob, John, Charles, Mary, who married Reuben E. Beard of Phila., Leah, married 1st Henry Neff, 2nd William Snyder and Casandra who married Henry Myer of Red Lion. Adam Kohler, married May 28, 1870 to Alice Geesy, d/o Samuel and Sallie (Reachard). Children; Claudia Estelle who married Halbart Bayler of York, Lillie May, Alvertra Bell, Mabel Garland, Leona A., and Howard E. Charles Kohler, son of Jacob and Mary, and grandson of George and Catharine, was born near Dallastown, Sept 26, 1846, he married Aug 18, 1872 to Emaline Geesey of York, d/o Jonathan and Sarah (Flinchbaugh) Geesey Jonathan and Sarah Geesey had children, Adam F., Jonathan, Pius, both of Dallastown, John F., died in 1902, Mary who married Henry Barshinger, Sarah the wife of Daniel Peters of York. Charles and Emaline Kohler had one child, Phineas Latimer, who was born Feb 20, 1879. Kohler, Henry F.,of Nashville, PA, was born July 17, 1863, in York County, near Kohler's Mill, an old buhrmill near Little Codorus, s/o Jacob and Lydia (Husson) Kohler. (1) Baltzer Kohler, a soldier of the Rev. (II) Jacob Kohler, born in York, he married a Seachrist and had;George, Catharine, Jacob, Mary, John, Adam, Eli, and Charles (III) Jacob2, father of Henry F. , was born in York County, April 1837, he married Lydia Husson, born in 1840, d/o Frank. Children; Ada, Wesley, of Dallastown, Jacob of Seven Valleys, Sedon, of Jacobus,. Jacob2 married 2nd to Ellen Hildebrand of York, d/o Jeremiah and Friederica (Reincker). Children: Wilber J., a minister of the Reformed Church, Gordon E., Paul E., and Ella F., who married Robert Beockel. (IV) Henry F., married Oct 30, 1888 in Glen Rock to Isabell Shaffer, d/o Edward and Ellen (Eppley) Shaffer. Children: Clarence E., Norman V., Carl K., Horace Ellwood. I. Jacob, married Anna Seachrist II Elias, married Harriet Peeling, d/o John. Children; Minnie, Chaucey C., Anna Gertrude, Earl C., Harper L. III Chauncey C., born May 30, 1874, married June 13, 1898 to Florence Metzgar, d/o Andrew of Phila., Best Wishes, Geri
