Arrivals Elias Pearson, of Kirklydam, of York, aged about 54 came in the ship, Sheild of Stockton, 1684 History of Bucks County Pearson, Charles M., (subject). The pioneer from whom the Pearson families in this county are descened came from England with William Penn. It is said that he christened "Chester" county in this state. His son Jesse married Hannah, d/o Gideon and Hannah Vore, of Chester county. Nine children were born to this couple, of whom John was the 6th child. He married Martha Miller of Reading, PA., and had 13 children, of whom 7 are living. Charles M., was the youngest. In 1859 he married Lizzie, d/o John and Elizabeth Rockafelllow, of NJ. They had 4 children, Martha, Clara N., Bessie H., Charles E. History of Chester County Peirce, George, (or Pearce as the name appears to have been written by him), or the parish of Winscom, in the county of Somerset, England, and Anne Gainer, of Thornbury, in the county of Gloucester were married 1/12/1679. George, wife and 3 children emigrated from Bristol,the seaport nearest his residence, in 1684. He arrived in Phila., prior to 9th mo 4thd 1684. He died in East Marlborough about 1734, having moved to that that township two years before. John, 1704, died before 1720 Joshua Peirce, married 1st 8/28/1713 to Ann Mercer, d/o Thomas and Mary, of Westtown; 2nd marriage, 9/15/1722 to Rachel, d/o Joseph and Hannah Gilpin, of Birmingham. Children by the 1st wife were George, 1714, married Lydia Roberts; Mary, 1717, married William Cloud, Ann,1718, married Caleb Mendenhall, and Adam Redd, by the 2nd wife, Josha, 1724, married Ann Baily, Joseph, 1725, Calab, 1727 Pearce, Cromwell (Col.). His ancestors for several generation resided in the town of Enniskillen, county, Fermangh, Ireland. Col. Cromwell Pearce's great-grandfather (whose name is not preserved) was a member of the Church of England, and with his 4 sturd brothers, served in the Enniskillen corps at the famous batteof Boyne, July 1,1690. His son, Edward,was born in Enniskillen, Aug 6. 1701, and had several brothers, three of whom were named Cromwell, William and Peter. Edward married Fraces Brassington of Dublin, of whose family is only known that she had several brothers and sisters; that 3 of the brothers were Richard,John,and Marmaduke, the latter an eminet physician of Dublin. and that one of the sisters marriad ____Dillon. Edward and Frances (Brassington) Pearce had 3 children born in Ireland and they sailed for Phila., in 1737. Two of the children died of small-pox. Cromwell was the only surviving child, born Dec 1732. They rearched Phila,, in 1738, and they moved near St. David's church, Randor, Chester Co.,. Cromwell, son of Edward, married Margaret Boggs, and they had 9 sons, Richard, Edward, John, George, Cromwell, Marmaduke, and Joseph and two not named, and 1 daughter, Frances who married Isaac Weaver , of West Chester Col. Cromwell, grandson of Edward, married April 23, 1801 to Isabell, d/o Thomas and Sarah (Gronow) Bull, of Tredyffrin, and resided for about a year in Phila., where his son and only child, Lewis Gronow Pearce was born. His wife died March 30, 1807 in her 31st year. He married 2nd April 13, 1821,Mary, d/o John Bartholomew, a descendant of one the early settlers in the Great Valley. Best Wishes, Geri
