Valentine Metzler, (died July 24, 1783) great-grandfather, in Lancaster County, came from Switzerland, Feb 14, 1726, came to this county in early manhood, he married Nov. 19, 1749, Anne Wissler, who was born in Lancaster county, Dec 9, 1727, and died March 29, 1793. Children; Abraham, Jacob, John, Anna, Henry, Christian, Martin, and Elizabeth. Christian Metzler, born March 6, 1791, diedJan 7, 1878, married Nancy Werner, born in 1790, died Jan 1, 1867. Children; David, Abraham, maried Susan Eby, Magdalena, married Joseph Brackbill, Susanna, and Anna. Abraham Metzler, of Paradise township, Lancaster county, was born in Morgantown, March 24, 1822, s/o Christian and Nancy (Werner) Metzler. Moyer, David L., of Rapho township, Lancaster county, was born in Londonderry township, Lebanon county, s/o Jacob and Barbara (Longnecker) Moyer. In 1867 he married Fanny Werner, of Lancaster. Children; Jacob who married Emma Moyer, Louisa, married Aaron Dieffenderfer, of Mt. Joy and had 3 children, William married Katie Minnich, of Penn township. On Aug 17, 1874, Fanny (Werner) Moyer, was born Aug 17, 1847, d/o Jacob and Fanny (Gibble) Werner, of Rapho township. The father, was born April 9, 1819, he died Feb 22, 1894, his wife was born Aug 6, 1813, and died July 18, 1883, members of the German Baptist Church. They were buried in Chiques Church Cemetery. Children; William of Rapho, Fanny, wife David L., Moyer, Elizabeth, wife of John Eshleman of Mt. Joy, and Amos of Mt. Joy. Mrs. Moyer's grandparents on her father's side were Peter and Catharine (Shank) Werner, and her maternal grandparents were Abraham and Barbara ("Wenger") Gibble of Lancaster Worst, Henry, and wife Mary (Kurtz) their d/o Barbara, married John Warner. Gibble, Isaac, of Rapho township, was born Aug 22, 1822, s/o Abraham and Barbara (Wenger) Gibble. Children; Joseph, of Rapho, Michael W., Isaac W,m Fanny W., who married Jacob Warner, John W., Abraham W., Elizabeth who married John Royer, of Lebanon county, and Barbara W., who married John Price. Abraham Gibble, son of John Gibble, son of John Gibble and his wife, who was a member of the Hummer family. Witmyer, David , great-grandfather, came from Germany, settled in Lancaster county. His son David2, was born in Lancaster, Jan 31, 1800, died April 7, 1851, married Elizabeth Hummer, and had 8 children; John, died young, David, Jacob, Aaron, of Indiana, Elizabeth, wife of Dr. Shaffer of Shafferstown, Priscilla, wife of Jacob Shue, Catharine, wife of Samuel Plasterer, and Anna. Balthaser, John, F., of Ephrate, was born July 26, 1863, s/o Jacob and Lena (Faust) Balthaser, natives of Berks county, where his grandfather, also named Jacob. The father was born in 1839, married Lena Faust, in 1859, and they had 8 children; Howard, born 1860, John F., born 1863, Sallie, born 1870, who married Alain Baker, Jacob born 1873, of Reading, Emma who married Harvey Noecker, and William, born 1880/ Leisey, James C., resident of Columbia, was born at Cocalico township, Lancaster county, Feb 25, 1853, s/o Frank and Barbara (Zell) Leisy The paternal grandparents of James C., was Joseph Leisey, of Lancaster, and his maternal grandparets were Nicholas and Barbara (Keel) Zell of Lancaster County. Myers, Jacob and Esther (Strickler), paternal grandfather, of Mt. Joy. Children; Eliza, Mary, wife of David Stoner, Henry, Anna, wife of Augustus Walton, Esther, the wife of Henry Zell, and Catharine, the wife of Thomas McFalls of IL. Hamp, William H., s/o Christ and Eliza (Leonard) Hamp, was married Feb 11, 1866 at Honey Brook, to Anna Smith, was born at Marcus Hook, Delaware Co., PA, May 10, 1845, d/o Peter and Elizabeth (Syfit) Smith, of Chester, PA. Children; William H., who married Esther L. Yarnall of Lancaster and they had 3 children (William H., Charles, and Robert E.). and Minnie, who married 1902 to William F. Bell Spotts, James Hawkins, was born in Churchtownn, March 25, 1868, maried in Nov 1899 toAdella Dora Frankenfield, d.o Prof. H. L. Frankenfield. They had one daughter, Dorothy, she died age 16mos. Hirsh, Abraham, was born June 21, 1827, married 1st to Fannie Greenwald, of Phila., and they had 4 sons, Leopald, of McKesport, David of New York, Harry of Lancaster, and Benjamin. Roop, Harry Backenstoe, MD, was born at Highspire, Dauphin Co., s/o Henry J. Roop. Henry J., married Justina Backenstoe, d/o Jacob, she was died in 1883, aged 45. They had children; Hervin U., Harry B., Della F., married Prof. B.F. Daugherty, Sarah, and William. Hershey, J. Milton, was born in Salisbury township, Lancaster county, June 26, s/o John B. and Mary (Warner) Hershey. The paternal grandparents of J. M. were Jacob E. and Christina (Bare) Hershey of Lancaster. The maternal grandparent were Jacob Warner and his wife _____ Platt. J. Milton, married in Salisbury, Feb 29, 1884 to Amanda C. Worst, d/o Samuel and Nancy (Kurtz) Worst. Best Wishes, Geri
