He married in Monroe Co., March 23, 1856, to Elizabeth Larn, who died June 17,1888, age 52. Children; Emma L., born 1856 married Malon Steen of MI., Mary born 1858 married Charles K. Smith, Franklin, Tellilah born 1861 married William Deubler, Sarah, born 1867, wife of George Deubler, Peter, born 1870, and Louisa, born 1875 and married John Keesler of Wayne Co. On Oct 18, 1881 at Stroudsburg, Franklin married Sophia Beehler. Her father Jacob Beehler, was a native of Germany, came to America at age 5, located in Monroe Co, where he died Feb 6, 1877, aged 52. Her mother bore the maiden name of Mary Wagner, was born in that county May 6, 1834, and d/o Joseph and Barbara Seigher) Wagner, who were natives of the Fatherlannd, but were married in Monroe co. Children; Joseph, Civil war, Edwaed, Simon, David, Civil war, Frank, Catharine, Rosina, and Mary, now Mrs. Beehler, who makes her home with out subject and his wife. Her children are as follows; Frank of NY., John of Tobyhanna, Mary, wife of Edward Hillard, of Paradise, Carrie, wife William Lambert of Bucks Co., Tillie, wife of Nick Noll of Monroe Co., Sophia, born June 21, 1862, now the wife of subject Franklin Bender, Julia, died at 21, Michael, died in infancy, Cassie, married William Bigley of Bethlehem and died at 27, Albert of Lackawanna County, Cyrus, died age 2, one who died in infancy, Amsey of Wayne Co., Jacob of Bartonsville, and James W., of Bethlehem. Mr. and Mrs. Franlin Bender had a family; Archibald, 1881, Lewis, 1882, died as an infant, Horace, 1885, Charles, 1889, died at 5. Roland, 1893, Teddie, 1895 and Prodice, 1898. Smale, William, subject, of Polk township, Monroe Co., was born Nov 28, 1854 in Chestnut Hill. His paternal grandfather, Abraham Smale, was a native of Monroe Co. He married Catharine Renner,who was born at Nazareth. Children; Eliza who married Solomon Cole, Joseph, Solomon, George, Susan, John, Abraham, and Mary who married Samuel Frantz. John Smale, father was born at Nazareth. He died in Chestnut Hill May 10, 1886, age 76. He married Elizabeth Serfaass, who was born July 7 1810. Children; Emma, wife of Rudolph Hawk, John, who married 1st to Susannah Shupp, 2nd to Anna Rhode, Joseph married 1st Amanda Hawk, 2nd to Elizabeth Kresge, Sarah who married 1st to Nathan Trodendorf and 2nd to August Walker, Christina, wife of James Muffley, of Allentown, Catherine, married George Best, Mary, married Amos Burger, of Scranton, Peter of Scranton, Amanda the 2nd wife of Amos Burger, of Scranton, Peter, of Scranton who married Maggie Hines, William H., subject, Jacob who married Ella Fehnel, and lived in Allentown. Mrs. Elizabeth (Serfass) our subject's mother, was born June 12, 1814 in Chestnut Hill. Her grandfather, John Serfass was a native of Germany. He died in 1839 in Polk township age 76, and his wife was Sarah Hone, a native of Lehigh Co. Children; John married __ Kunkel, Adam, married Christina Berger, Joseph married Eliza Kunkel, William died unmarried, David married Sallie Everitt, Peter married Kate Strom, Hannah married William Kresge, Susan married John Livigood, Mary, married Powel Soldt, Elizabeth married Philip Moyer, Christina married Conrad Driesbach, Kate, married George Kresge and Sally, married George Hawk. Adam Serfass, Mrs. Smale's father, was born in Monroe Co. He died in 1875 aged 72 and his wife in 1873, both being buried at Gilbert. Children; Fannie, married Aaron Hinery, Charlotte, married Double Balou, Ephriam, unmarried, Arom, married Eliza Hawk, Joel, died unmarried, Linford married Elizabeth Kress, Elizabeth married John Smale, Linford married 1st Sallie Beers, and 2nd Polly Getz, Manaville married 1st Lusinda Erhardt, 2nd Sarah Shuppp, 3nd Eliza Kleintop. William H. Smale, married Jan 1874 at Bath, Northampton Co to Amanda Hickman. Children; Thomas, Amelia, George, Eugene, Mary, Preston, Carry, Hattie, Elmer and Eva..
