On April 12, 1894 he married Esther Shimer, d/o George of West Bethlehem Garis, William E., of Easton, on the paternal side William E. is of French and Irish descent, while on his mother's side is German. His grandfather, Valentine Garis, had his home in Williams township. His son, Samuel was born in Williams twp. Member of the Lutheran Church. He made his home in Phila. He married Susan Eichman, children; William E., Irvin, Cornelius,Charles, Frank, George, Mary, the wife of Edward Hess, of Camden, NJ, Elizabeth. married Dr. C. Sommers of Phila., Matilda of Phila., and Helen, deceased. The maternal grandfather on these children, was William Eichman. William E. Garis, was born in S. Easton, Sept 26, 1849. In 1872 married Ella L., d/o Reuben P. Micke, of Easton. Children; Five daughter, Helen, deceased, Nan, Rosa C., Margaret E., and Florence.
