The Equinunk Creek is in present day Wayne County, PA. It flows from around Preston to the town of Equinunk on the Delaware River. Kahler-Northumberland County Kahler, William S., of Upper Mahanoy township since 1876 belongs to a family which has been located in Juniata County, since his grandfather, Philip Kahler came to the country from Germany in 1852. He landed at Castle Garden, NY, and proceeded to Juniata County. He and his wife are buried at Leinniger's Church. Mr. and Mrs. Philip Kahler had children as follolw: Margaretha who married Henry Ford, Barbara, who married Barney Fogel, William, George. The record was opened in the year 1749 by paster, Rev. Ludolph Heinrich Schrencke. Among the names we find, John Peter Kohler, Gabriel Kohler, Peter Lang, Conrad Zeller The assessment roll of 1781 contains the name of Lawrence Klein. This was doubtless a father or brother of Christoper Klein, who settled there about that time. Christoper left 2 sons, Lawrence born 1795 and died 1882, leaving three sons and 3 daughters, and Reuben Whitehall township-1781, Jacob Kohler, Peter Kohler, Edman Doll, Jacob Flickinger, George Flickinger, Philip Knappenberger Jacob Kohler (Coler) emigrated from Mill Hausen, Switzerland, and settled in Egypt, between the year 1720 and 1730, with his family of 9 children, two sons, Peter and Jaco and seven daughters. Ulrich Burkhalter, the ancestor of the family in the township, immigrated to this country in the ship "Samuel" of Sweden, Aug 11,1732. He had one son, Peter, and one daughter Elizabeth Barbara, who marred Jacob Mickley. Is there anyone with a connection to Lafayette Bender born about 1856 and died 1881 who was married to Emma Nagel...they lived in the Catasauqua, PA area. He died of a suicide. He was my ggrandfather. His son, my grandfather, was Charles Ellsworth Bender who married Mary C. Lichtenwalner. They lived in Bethlehem, PA. My brickwall is Lafayette Bender.
