    3. Marcia, Easton Cemetery is catalouged at the Marx Room in the Easton Public Library. Good thing! It's a HUGE cemetery! It is mapped out in sections, so you will have to search for a tombstone in only one section instead of the entire cemetery. 1. [PANORTHA-L] "My" Mary Ann Grotz
    2. In the 1900 census Mary A. Gradwohl (nee Grotz) was living w/son Adam in Easton's 3rd ward; and it was reported that she was b. 11/1813. In the transcribed Baptismal records of Easton Reformed Church: Krotz, Maria b. 11/14/1813 bapt. 7/7/1814, d/o John & Catherine Krotz. There are two John Grotz households in the Forks twnshp census for several decades. I have tried to access the Forks Church Cemetery Inscriptions through http://obit.obitlinkspage.com/pa.htm and have consistently received "that page can not be found". If some kind soul has the book, let me know please if there is anything on John and Catherine Grotz. Or is there an alternate website? As John Gradwohl (b.~1814) died bfr the 1900 census, he is still the "brick wall du jour". Query: If Grotz= Krotz, could Gradwohl= Kratwall? J.R. Maxwell Delaware Co., OH

    2. I came across this biography of George R. Keiper, son if Christian Butz Keiper m. Mary Ann Grotz, while searching for "my" Mary Ann Grotz. I hope it assists someone in their search: www.countyhistory.com/doc.benton/089.htm This Mary Ann Grotz, d/o Jacob & Elizabeth Grotz of Easton; b. March 16, 1805 & bapt. at the Lutheran Church. Family moved to N.J., she 1st m. Christian Godfrey Fleming in N.J., she 2nd m. George F. Keiper of Lafayette, IN. She died in May, 1879 and "her remains were interred in the cemetery in Easton, Pennsylvania in a lot provided by her father...." George's father was Dr. Christian Butz Keiper b. 12/4/1816 (1806?) Allentown; s/o Peter Keiper & Mary Butz. There is a Jacob Grotz Sr. farmer, and a Jacob Jr. carpenter, listed in the 1780 Easton Twnshp taxable households list. Possible clue? J.R. 1. [PANORTHA-L] ST JOHN Reformed Church Riegelsville, PA
    2. Hello, I am trying to locate any church records for St John Reformed Church of Riegelsville, PA.  Please forgive the cross posting--I find relatives from PA and NJ counties other than Bucks Co. attending this church. On a website, I found a partial listing of members.  The site stated this information came from the book "St John Reformed Church of Riegelsville, PA , showing the development and growth of the Congregation from the organization in 1849 to January 1, 1911, Eschenbach Printing Co., Easton, PA 1911. I have tried a google search to locate anymore information on this book.  Is it located in any libraries or historical societies?  This website stated their library copy was missing but I don't know which library they were referring to. I also have people who attended this church who are buried in Riegelsville, PA--is there a cemetery associated with this church? Thanks so much for any help or suggestions.                                                Kathy Karn

    2. Much Thanks to all of you who have been helping me search for Angelstein family in PA. I have been researching this family for a friend for months. Today I had an email from a connection. The info sent in the obits from one of you proved to be the same family. Other info some of you sent also ties in with them. The man who responded even has a picture of my friend's grandparents and greatgrandparents. Turns out the sons (a generation or so back started spelling it Anglestein....which I'd searched for too with no luck.) He was able to give us the death date for Fred Angelstein, Jr and his mother's maiden name. :) . Great list you have here. I hope to have more to post later on the family. If anyone ever needs help in NC, especially in the Lee, Cumberland or Moore Co areas, please let me know. 2. Deitrich
    3. To anyone doing DEITRICH research. My Gt Gt Grandfather was ELIAS DEITRICH and after much research, I still can not find where in Pennsylvania he was born, nor who his parents were. Calculating by his head stone, he was born Feb 12, 1816 somewhere in Pennsylvania. The first record I can find for him is when his first son was born, Levi, in 1838 in Richland/Ashland County, Ohio. I have his life pretty well documented from this point on through to his death in September, 1884 in Definance County, Ohio. I am trying to see if anyone has done any research for the Deitrich line or if they have record of a birth or baptisimal record near this birthdate. ELIAS DEITRICH also was one of the original founders in Defiance, Ohio of a German Dunkard church, but am not sure if he was originally of this line of faith. Any help is appreciated. Please E-Mail with any thoughts or help. Thanks..Frank Deitrich

    1. [PANORTHA-L] Rachel (O'BRIEN/BRAUN) SIEGFRIED
    2. I am searching for the parents of Rachel O'BRIEN (or O'BRIAN - or BRAUN), who was born in 1820 and died 20 Mar 1893 in her home on Carpenter St., South Bethlehem, Northampton Co., PA. She was married 6 Jan 1839 to Joseph SIEGFRIED (1817 - 1892). Their marriage was announced in two German papers, "Friedens Bote," and "Unabhaengige Republikana," but in both papers, her name was listed as Rachel BRAUN, and both papers stated that she and her husband, Joseph SIEGFRIED, were "from Bath." However, Rev. Allehorn recorded their marriage in Friedensville Church Records, Upper Saucon Twp, and recorded her name as Rachel O'BRIAN. In baptism records of their children at Friedensville Church, the pastor clearly showed "Joseph and Rachel (O'BRIEN) SIEGFRIED as their parents. When their oldest son, James Siegfried died on 14 Jan 1915, the pastor also wrote clearly, "James F. Siegfried, born Nov 3, 1839, died Jan 10, 1915, age 75 yrs, 1 mo, 27 days, of apoplexy. Parents: Joseph and Rachel (O'BRIAN) Siegfried." Joseph and Rachel SIEGFRIED are in the following PA Census:: 1850 Northampton Co, Lower Nazareth Twp., with 7 children. 1860 Northampton Co, Lower Saucon Twp, Hellertown P.O., with 5 children. 1870 Lehigh Co, Lower Saucon Twp, Seidersville P.O. with daughter & grandchild. 1880 Northampton Co, South Bethlehem. Joseph (64) and Rachel (60) In the 1880 Census, Rachel stated that her mother was born in PENNSYLVANIA, and her father was born in ENGLAND. The Census-taker in 1880 also indicated that Rachel could not read or write. Is there a PANORTHA-L subscriber who can help me find out what Rachel's maiden name REALLY was - and who her parents were??? I'd be most grateful for any help! Best wishes for success in finding your ancestors, too! Irene Diehl Konrad My website: <A HREF="http://members.aol.com/idkonrad/Mynames.htm"> http://members.aol.com/idkonrad/Mynames.htm</A>

    2. Is there anyone out there researching the surname Heiss/Hise/etc?? I have a Hoppes-Heiss connection from Northampton Co. I received the following from the Reeves Library, Moravian College & Moravian Theological Seminary: Author Roseen, Sven, 1708-1750. Title The Dansbury diaries: Moravian travel diaries 1748-1755 of the Reverend Sven Roseen and others in the area of Dansbury, now Stroudsburg, Pa. "....There is an "Every Name Index" in the book, so it was easy to find George Jasper Hise. However, there is very little information. He was part of a group of "more than six hundred men, women and children, in their utmost distress " who came "to the Brethren's Settlements, in the Forks of Delaware, to find there a shelter, and some relief in their wants and nakedness; many of them having had their houses, barns, cattle and all burnt and destroyed by the savages and just having save their life." His name appears twice on the "Powell List of Sufferers" as one who received goods during the "hard winter" of 1756. On Jan. 1, 1756, he received 2 1/4 yards of cotton nap cloth, 2 1/4 yds. red flannel, and 1 pair of stockings." George Jasper Heiss gave a deposition in 1755 (in Egle's Notes and Queries of Pennsylvania, 1700s-1800s, Annual Volume 1897, XXVII, p. 155,) regarding the massacre. Also see scanned copy of the Philadelphia Gazette of Dec 18, 1755 online at <http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~marier/1755_gazette.htm> Thanks in advance for any thing you can add!! Joan Hise Bancroft
