To one and all on the Northampton group Northampton area. I just came across the name of a person that may be my GG Grandfathers sister. At the moment I have no way of knowing if I am right or wrong. I have been searching for records on Luwig, Mensinger/Mentzinger, born in 1746, concerning his wife and children. Ludwig (age 5 years) came to the Philadelphia on 23-24 September 1751 with his father Leonhard, two other girls, and his grandfather (Johann) Martin Mentzinger, as well as his Aunt and her husband Caspar Kessler with their 8 children I believe Ludwig had a son who was also named Ludwig Mensinger born in 1786. He is my GG Grandfather. I am sure because I have a Taufenshein with the names concerning the birth and Baptism of his son Johann Mensinger (Born 28 August 1827.) who was my Grandather's father. Witnesses to the ceremony, conducted by Preacher Beninger, were one Heinrich Hasler and Machtelehna Mensinger. (Modern spelling of the woman would be Magdalena.) I suspect she was the daughter of Ludwig (1746) born somewhere in Northampton County about 1771 a bit before or after.. Probably around or in Penn Township. It is believed that Ludwig (1746) was perhaps a Blacksmith as well as a farmer. He was in the Militia in 1778. Any response will be greatly appreciated, since as you can tell, I know so much about him yet so little. I have just recently put together some research for the ALLSHOUSE families of Warren Co., NJ. This is just across the river from Northampton Co., PA (and I suspect the NJ families descend from PA ancestors). They are not my ancestors, but those of my cousin and I put it together for her. If anyone has any questions about this, they can contact me. BlankRE: BUZZARD Bucks Co and Northampton Co 1770-1830 Thanks to Geri's recent entry, I dug out my BUZZARD bits......... NOTES extracted and sent to me Oct 1996 by Herbert Cole of Houston TX taken from Genealogical Miscellanea of Pennsylvania Families by MC Williams (Houston TX genealogical library. Sorry no publisher/published date): page 60 "GEORGE BUZZARD of Bucks County PA is first listed in the Tax Records of 1779 in New Britain Twp Bucks County as a single man. He served in the Revolutionary War in Capt. Henry Darocks's Company, 2nd Class, 3rd Company. 3rd Batt. of the Bucks County Militia 1779/1781 (Pa Archives, 5th Ser, Vol 5, pp 360-381) In the 1781 Tax Record his occupation was that of a blacksmith with 1 horse and 1 cattle and in the 1790 census his household consists of 2 males over 16, 2 males under 16, and 5 females. By 1800, he can be found in Plumstead Twp. Bucks Co He married Rachel Godshalk, who was born about 1759 and was still living in 1814 when her father's will was made. Because the above record for John and Elizabeth BERKY Buzzard lists three of the same children w/spouses as does the following record of John and Margaret BERKEY Buzzard, it is likely that Elizabeth and Margaret are the same person. "As historian of this great family I am pleased to submit the following: I am going to take Daniel Reimer and his wife Mary Buzzard Reimer as the starting point......Mary Buzzard, our grandmother, was the daughter of John Buzzard and Margaret (Berkey) Buzzard. They were Mennonites [which may or may not be true as they are buried in the Evangelical churchyard in Stone Church]" "Grandmother's brothers and sisters...
