Surnames in this posting: WASHBURN, BOYER, LAUB, ZELLNER, SHOEMAKER, HIXSON & DUBBS When searching all the WASHBURN info I've collected for Northeast Pennsylvania and the info another list member (Brenda) gave me to start with, I was able to compile the following family. I cannot get further back in time regarding who Aaron WASHBURN's parents are until I search Church records in Easton, hopefully within a week. If anybody recognizes any possible names here please e-mail me. Aaron's first showing on the Census is 1850, by himself. Obviously prior to 1850 only head of households were listed so the Census dead ends going back in time there. My gut feeling regarding the ancestral line for Aaron based on the geography of where Aaron was I believe he descends from Silence & Jesse WASHBURN, any one of the sons, Jesse Jr., Daniel or Caleb. Those of us who have researched Daniel WASHBURN whom survived the Wyoming Massacre at Forti-Fort Pennsylvania at the beginning of the Revolution at the young age of 15 know he is listed as serving in the Militia. When examining the actual records first microfilmed we see he served after the Wyoming massacre in the "Inactive Militia", Northampton, 6th Battalion, 5th Company under Capt. Conrad READER, 5th Class and mustered out October 26, 1780, published A(5)VIII, 442-55. Also find a certificate proving active duty, service dates not supplied, issued on 30 January 1786, certificate # 10,247 and given 7 pounds. *The Following was part of "Re-Microfilming". Also find a certificate issued 4 January 1786 for Militia, Northampton, service dates not supplied, certificate # 8708 and given 10.10.0 Pounds. Also find a certificate for "active duty", Northampton, Private 6th Battalion Lt. Col. Philip BEAM, Class 3, service May 25 to July 23, 1782, Company or Commander - Capt. If your wondering what & where Gnadenhuetten (proper spelling) is, located where present day Borough of Weissport, PA near Borough of Lehighton or near better known Bethlehem. Gnadenhuetten means "tents of grace" or literally translated, "mercy huts". David Schmale died March 16, 1866 aged 47. His wife died in 1892. Both are buried at the Kunkeltown church cemetery.
