Patricia, On my website I have been transcribing all of the tombstones at Holy Ghost Cemetery. I do have a few Ambroses listed, no children. I still have at least half of the cemetery still to go. I do know there is a children's section in the cemetery. Unfortunately many of the stones in that section are in very poor condition. Have you contacted any of the other Catholic Churches in South Bethlehem? You might want to look at my page on Catholic research in the Lehigh Valley, it might be helpful to you. Pauline and George Ambrose died during the flu epidemic in Bethelehem pa. Although I have contacted the church where they are buried, they say they have no record. The family says they are buried there. I am trying to get a death date for the two of them. They are buried with their parents, who are in the Holy Ghost Cemetery. I now live in Idaho, so it is impossible for me to check things out there. Does anyone have any ideas on finding this info. It is too expensive to have the vital records look it up. Thank you for any help. > > > > > > > --------------------------------- > Do you Yahoo!? > Free Pop-Up Blocker - Get it now > > >
Montgomery Co Hon. Jacob Fry Jr. born at Trappe, 1802 was a member of Congress 1834-38 Henrich Frey or Fry, a native of Altheim, in Alsace, it is stated, came to PA before the arrivival of Wm. Penn, settled near Roxborough, In 1692 he married, at Germantown, to Catharine Levering, d/o Wingart. They had 9 children, of whom six were sons. He purchased 1250 acres on Towamencin Creek in 1724. It is family traditio9n that two of the sons waled up from the Wissahickon, a distance of 18 or 20 miles, on Monday mornings, bringing their provisions along with them for the week, for the purpose of making a clearing and creating a house, which they completed by the following spring. The eldest son of these brothers was Jacob who had 2 sons and 2 daughters, whereof Daniel Fry is still living on the homestead at the good old age of 94 (1884). The family possess an ancient burial ground in the township. In the assessment of 1776 we find, as in 1734, the name of Jacob Fry, with 200 acres. The late Jacob Fry of Trappe was a member of Congress May 22, 1729, William Frey, of Parkeawming, bought of James Steed 200 acres, part of the latter's purchased of Dec 17, 1728 located in the western portion of the township. Bertolet's Meeting House house stand upon this tract. He was the son of Henry Frey and Catharine Levering, who were married April, 1692, at Germantown, beore Francis Daniel Pastorius, JP. Henry as stated came to PA before the arrival of Billy Penn. William Frey married Veronica Markley. Their children, Henry married Jan 26 1756 Anna Buerstler: William; Catharine married John Gesel; Magdalena married Oct 16, 1746 to Christoper Baus; Vernoica married Joseph Miller; Jacob born Jan 1, 1726; Christiana married Feb 16, 1748 to Johann Heinrich Seegner, Mathias, Salome, married Christoper Hensel; Elizabeth. Veronica Frey, who afterward was the wife of Joseph Miller, sailed from NY on the 9th of Jan 1743, for England, in the ship "Jacob", which carried a Moravian company, and she afterward with her husband, was stationed at the Brethren's in Germany. Jacob, son of Wm. Frey was a carpenter. On Dec 17, 1749, Jacob Frey was one of the 22 single brethren who left Bethlehem for Christian Spring's in Northampton Co. He married Susanna Sophia Bertolet, d/o Jean, a Huguenot refugee, who came to PA in 1726, and settled in Oley. Children; Esther, the first wife of Samuel Bertolet; Elizabeth, married Jan 26, 1790 Samuel Bertolet his second wife, Magdalena, married Nov 5, 1792 to Johannes Schlicter. Lehigh County-Fry/Frey This is one of the very large families of Lehigh and surrounding counties. A petiton of record in the court-house at Easton, bearing the date of March 17, 1762 prays for the appoinment for the minor children of Conrad Fry late of Lynn township, who died leaving a widow named Hester and the following children; Jacob,Sarah, Esther, Moses, Aaron, Hannah, Johua, Katharine, and Elizabeth. The tax list of 1762 from Lowhill township contains the name of Jacob Frey, whose decendants are numerous. In 1781 the tax list of the same district contains the name of Leonhard and John Frey. The Federal Census Report of 1790 contains the names of Leonhard and Michael Frey as head of families of Lowhill. Best Wishes, Geri
