    2. Hi Dick Thank you so much, another person just told me about the substitute 1890 census on the Northampton site and sure enough, they were on it which means they died between 1890 and 1900...saves me 10 years of record searching. You are correct, saw that it is Upper Mt. Bethel. Will do as you suggest and contact the Easton Public Library and see if they will check for obits for me. Thank you again, appreciate your help and suggestion. Marie Johnsonville is located between Bangor and Portland in Upper Mt. Bethel Township, Northampton Co. There were a couple of churches at this crossroads village in the late 1800's. There are larger cemeteries in Portland and at Stone Church as well as in the Bangor/East Bangor area. I would suggest contacting the Easton Public Library. They probably have readings from many of these yards. The Bangor Public Library has local newspaper files from this era.

    3. Marie, I am not sure where Johnsonville is, but there is an 1890 census substitute online that might help you narrow down time frame in which they died. It is at http://www.enter.net/~ritar/communities.html. 1. [PANORTHA] Frederick and Catherine MILLER
    2. Hi Last find my Frederick and Catherine Miller in Johnsonville, Northampton County on the 1880 census. By 1900 it appears that they have died. What cemeteries would be in this area during the 1880 to 1900 and are any of their databases online? Thank you Marie

When you responde to queries, please do not duplicate the original query because most of the recent digests have been bogged down by duplications and it is time-consuming to weed through repeated queries. Thanks so much. If you take a little time before posting it will save a lot of time for all the members. Sue

    3. Hi Sharon, I remember years ago you and I used to exchange Shimer Family tree info. You're directly descendant from Anthony Papen Shimer??? I would love to help with this. If he was born in Shimertown there might be some records locally, like in Northampton County,Pa that shed some light on who his spouse is. I live in Warren County NJ but its very close to the Pa border. Send me his info and his children and I'll see what there might be. Eva

Where does one find out bounty land for a 1812 soldier? My gr3 - Craton WILLIAMS, was War of 1812 in S Carolina, his pension papers #21780, which I have copies of, show he was given bounty land of 160 acres with a Cert #114150. How can I find out where he staked claim to this 160 acres? Was there a designated area where the soldiers were to claim land? He lived in and around Kershaw Co SC after the War, had enlisted at Camden SC; died there near the county line of Richland Co., SC in 1878. I don't know if the land he was living on was his 'bounty land' or not. He seemed to be renting in some of the Census, as he was in Fairfield Co SC, then Lancaster Co SC on one and then Kershaw on another. I wondered if the War Dept kept track of bounty land? Or should I be looking in the county court house 'wherever' he staked out his claim? - which could be several counties, in his case! I found one deed record where he had 106 acres in Lancaster Co SC near the Catawba River in 1826. But never the 180 acres in his certificate. Then in 1833 he took out a mortgage for 120 acres in Fairfield county SC. I don't know where to look for this....... Thanks for any tips........where to write, etc...... My cousin has been writing to various places and getting a runaround! Diana

Baltimore), pg. 83. In the same book, the Zion Lutheran Church records are included and Daniel Kamp is listed as the son of George. Anna Catharina (b. abt. 1734) is also listed as the son of Johan George Kamp. John Martin is listed as a baptismal sponsor for Daniel Kamp so I have him listed as a brother. I have these 4 plus David Kamp listed as children of Hans Georg Kampf (1711-1804) and his first wife. The New Bethel (Zion) Lutheran Church, Grimsville, Albany Township, Berks County, PA, church records sates that Anna Maria (Kohler) is the wife of Georg Kamb apparently around 1754. These church records have several children by this marriage listed/baptized. George Kamp's will only lists his sons and one son-in-law. I have a lot on information on him if you are interested.
