A number of the Knecht family came to Summit County, Ohio with the Nathan (Sabina Dieter) Oplinger - Seiberling -Miller - Bauer- Hauser- and others.They all lived in the same community, went to the same church and are buried in the same cemetery. I have been told that the Knechts are cousins to the Oplingers. I have no proof. BUT I do know that Dora Oplinger grand-dau of Nathan had an illegitimate child Vernon Knecht Sept. 30, 1894 died September 29, 1901. Then Bessie Oplinger sis of Dora had an illegitimate child by the same man...she named him Victor Knecht. He was born November 30 1912 and died July 30, 2003. Victor is the one that gave me the information. The Knecht family has owned a cider mill and they have a cider festival every year in Loyal Oak, which is just west of Akron, Ohio.
