I am Cecily Sprouse and I live in Davis, CA (just outside Sacramento). My father is Keith Sprouse and he grew up in the towns of Monessen, Belle Vernon and Brownsville. The Sprouse family moved to Fayette City in 1898 (my GGgrandfather Nelson Sprouse was a blacksmith in the mines) and then to Monessen in 1900. He founded the first church in Monessen, the Methodist Church, and served briefly on the Monessen City Council. The other families I am researching went to in the Mon Valley area much earlier. I am researching the Jackman family of Pike Run and the other families that married into that line including: Dunlevy, Shively, Crow, Crawford and Murphy. On the other side of the river in Fayette County, I am researching the Walters family. My grandmother was Ruth Walters, who is the gggggrandaugher of Ephraim Walters b. about 1737/1744. The other associated names are DeBolt, Hyatt, Lewis, and Harn. I almost forgot an important branch in my family, that of the Moyer. My ggrandmother was Mollie Moyer, her father was Benjamin Moyer a wagon maker in Belle Vernon around the turn of the century. Her grandfather was Andrew Jackson Kibler, a Methodist minister who lived in Charleroi and Clarksville (Greene County). He came from Page County, Virginia and several other Moyer families moved up to the Mon Valley area around the turn of the century. I have lots of information about most of the families and will be happy to share. I would especially be interested in people who might remember my family because my grandparents died before I was born and I would love to hear some stories about them. thanks so much, Cecily Sprouse
