Good evening again, I'm going to post to this list a few obituaries and death notices that I posted to the Fayette and Washington Co. lists so they can be attached to the site. So--for some of you this won't be new. Mike, do you want me to repost the "Bundles from Heaven" and the Daily Register of the hospital to attach to the site, also? How about the news from the service men. Let me know if and what you want me to do with that. While pneumonia did indeed cause people to die before antibiotics, these people usually developed pneumonia because of another ailment, such as a stroke. Health care professionals used to call pneumonia "The old man's friend", because it eased people out of life in a relatively painless manner, as opposed to a long lingering death from cancer or a stroke, or some other debilitating disease. So, the moral of this story is, if you come across pneumonia on a death certificate as a cause of death--suspect something else to be a factor contributing to the development of same.
