My name is Judy Burns and I live in Oklahoma City. I have lived here all my life. I began researching my family lines about two years ago. I am definitely hooked on the process as I love the digging and finding. However, the best thing to come out of my research has been to come into contact with some of the nicest people imaginable. My surnames are BARMORE (BAREMORE), FURMAN, JOHNSON, KING, AND SOUTH. These families were in this area primarily from 1800 to 1880. The BARMORE and FURMAN families were in Dunkard Twp, Greene County, PA from 1800 to 1850. They then moved on to Tyler and Wood Counties in WV. The JOHNSON line also came from Pleasants County WV. Of course, I am interested in information leading back farther "up the tree" however I am very interested in knowing more about my ancestors - what they did - how they lived - what kind of people they were. My grandfather Furman was born in Sistersville, Tyler County, WV. The Furmans became involved in the oil business. My grandfather met my grandmother while drilling a well next to her farm in Grant County, IN. The family followed the development of the oil business and moved on to OK and, later, to TX.
