Hello, I am Betsy NORRIS Banzen, born, at home, in Clairton, PA (actually Wilson for those of your familiar with the valley). Dr. Stollar, from Elizabeth, PA, arrived after my arrival to assure my parents all was OK. I graduated from Clairton High School in 1960. Due to the transfer of my dad, in 1960, by US Steel, to Gary, IN, I ended up teaching school and marrying in Indiana. After 32.5 years teaching math in Merrillville, IN, I retired, in June 1997, to Venice, FL. Last spring while helping my 81 year old dad, Kenneth E. NORRIS, Clairton H.S., class of 1935, set up his new computer, I caught the genealogy bug from him and my mom, Margaret Barnes BROWN Norris, Clairton H.S., class of 1932. I was lucky to inherit much research from them, but I am trying to enlarge our ancestor tree. My BARNES/BROWN relatives arrived in the valley during the 1840/1850s. Ggf Robert BROWN's place of death is listed as Lock #3. With each family having a dozen or more kids, I am sure that I have many unknown relatives up and down the valley. I would like to make contact with them. I just found out that my ggf Joseph E. NORRIS, who had been a mystery until recently, was one of the two policemen, in Glassport, PA, in the early 1900s, involved in several gun battles with criminals. I found this out thanks to the ladies at the McKeesport Heritage Center. Joseph E. NORRIS had a brother, Issac J. NORRIS, who also lived in Glassport, and I believe his descendants may be in the valley. I would like to make contact with them in hopes of tracing our mutual gggrandparents, James NORRIS and his wife, Lavina (surname?), whose roots have eluded my dad for years. Other valley research surnames are RHINE, KIMMICK, RYAN, JOHNSON, and STONE. Thanks, Betsy in Venice, FL Elizabeth A. Banzen 504 Pennyroyal Place Venice, FL 34293 [email protected]
