Hello members. I am excited that Mike has started a list that covers the Mon Valley. I was born in Grafton, W.VA. as my dad was there helping to build the Tygarrt Dam. Since my mother's family goes back several generations in Belle Vernon particularly in the Seldom Seen area, my parents moved back to PA as soon as the job was finished. Dad worked for Pages Chain & Cable Co. until he retired. We were living in Lynnwood where I attended Fairhope School for my first six years of school. After sixth grade, we moved to Belle Vernon where I went to Vernon Jr. High and graduated from Bellmar High School in 1956. My late mother, Vera Jenkins, taught school at Marion. By the way, we were tough little kids. The first year we walked to school as the school buses didn't appear until the next year. Also, the whole six years we had outhouses for the students. Can you imagine any child today being expected to use an outhouse? Someone always tipped a few over at Halloween. I graduated from college in Illinois after my children were older. I now live in NE Illinois in a county called Lake. We are about 1 hr from both Chicago and Milwaukee. I have been a Real Estate Broker for the past 23 years. My mother's family have always been interested in genealogy with my g, grandmother Clara Jane Worrell, Roley gathering many of the Worrell family documents which have since been assigned to me. While I have been able to go forward and add generations, the real credit for the vast data bank that I now have goes to my mother's sister and my cousin who have done very thorough research for the last thirty years when genealogy was not popular. The following names are mostly from my mother's family. The Jenkins, Barringer, Landis, Shellenberger, and Anderson names are from my dad's family. I hope to find new cousins.
