Hello, If there is anyone on the list that is connected to the Vance family, would you please check your records to see if you have a Margaret Vance who married a John Roley who lived at Chestnut Ridge at Mt Pleasant? John Roley's dates are 1749-1822. Margaret was a second wife and was less than half his age. She had two sons: Robert b. 1812, and Michael Vance b. 1816. After John's death in 1822, she married someone by the name of Ryan or Ryam and seems to have disappeared from the PA Census. A man by the surname of Stauffer was appointed a guardian for Michael Vance. We have not found a guardian for Robert. We would like to know whether Margaret was a Vance or a Stauffer. I have not gotten the foggiest notion what church would have been in the area around 1800 to find marriage records or baptismal records. I hope someone can help with this Roley wall.
