In Vol. 3 of the 4 Vol's was this: Abner Enochs, 140th Pa. The night of Feb. 22d, 1863, was the coldest of any during the four years of the war. A number of Co. D were picket duty, and no fires were allowed. To keep warm by exercise was very exhausting. To avoid freezing some left their posts and went to camp. Many were disabled by their hands and feet freezing, 8 or 10 froze to death in 2d corps. Comarade Enochs was disabled by having his feet badly frozen.
