I think the History of the Peters Creek Watershed has bit of history of Gastonville -- as well as its change of name ( from ? to Gastonville)-- but I can't lay my hand on that copy at the moment. However, I have excerpted a bit on the Gston House from "A Guidebook of Historic Western Pennsylvania," by Helen Smith and George Swetnam, 1991, Univ of Pittsburgh Press: "Gaston House (brick with cut-stone foundation), built by Samuel Gaston, is reputed to date from 1800, but its architectural design denotes a somewhat later time. John Gastoncame from New Jersey and purchased a tract of land called "Belmont" from John Cox in 1790. Before his death he divided the property among four sons. An 1807 mill stood below the house where a later mill, now a residence, is located. Location: Gastonville, junction of McChain and Stone Church roads (Union Township)." If I find the other source, I'll post it. Russ
