John Thomas Evans and his wife Emlar Smallman Evans came to Mon City around 1880 or so, just a guess, from Manchester, England. They were coal miners. Later his son James Smallman Evans and Sarah came over, both at different times; James around 1903-4 and Sarah around 1906-7, to join his parents. They had MANY children. I am descended from a daughter of James and Sarah, Lily, who married a Shoaff from New Castle, PA. If anyone knows of any Evans families I'd love to talk with you.
