Hello all... A while back there was some discussion of a missing cemetery in Bentleyville. It was believed to be near what is now the Main Street extention, and may have been removed to make room for developments. Last night I was driving on Pittsburgh Rd (Rt. 917) and noticed what looked like an old monument. I turned around and drove by again and noticed that there are numerous markers, stones and other older looking monuments, stacked on top of each other (possibly 25 or so that I could see from the car), inside a fence that is mostly an area that appears to be used for storage of some construction items (pipes, etc.) I've been past this place a hundred times but never noticed them before, which leads me to believe that they have recently been stacked there, or the weeds around them have been cut down. My plan is to at least get close enough to read a few names, and to try and track down who manages the site. There is no sign. I will attempt to find out where these stones came from, and will keep you informed. If anyone else has any information, I know there are some on the lists that would be interested. -- Thanks Mike Donaldson, Bentleyville, PA (mdonald4@bentcom.net) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Mon Valley History and Genealogy Website: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~pamonval/ Mon Valley: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow: http://www.geocities.com/mdonald318/ My family gedcom: http://www.my-ged.com/donldson ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Listowner of: Monongahela River Valley of Penna Rootsweb mailing list: PAMONVAL-L@rootsweb.com - Mail mode PAMONVAL-D@rootsweb.com - Digest mode Bieneman / Bienemann Rootsweb Mailing list Bienemann-L@rootsweb.com - Mail Mode Bienemann-D@rootsweb.com - Digest mode
