I am looking for information on the Abbott Family who lived in Fayette and Washington Counties, Pennsylvania. In working through some records and a time line recently, I found a Benjamin Abbet living in Monongalia County VA in the 1790 census. I find him in the 1800 census in Jefferson Township, Greene County, PA, along with a Benjamin Abbet, Jr. I also find a Jeremiah Abbot living in Redstone, Fayette County, PA. In searching history, I find that in 1783, the northeast corner of Monongalia became Fayette County, PA, and in 1796, the northwest corner of Monongalia that was Washington County, PA became Greene County, PA. So, actually these people were living in the same place? Information from another researcher indicates that Benjamin Sr. and Jr. moved on to Ohio about 1805. Jeremiah remains in Washington Township, Fayette County through the 1810, 1820, 1830 and 1840 census'. If anyone has any early records for Monongalia County, VA or Greene County, PA, can you please check them for any evidence of the Abbott family, found spelled a variety of different ways (Abbott, Abbot, Abbett, Abet, etc.). I would appreciate the look-ups and if you could please let me know what source you looked in even if you don't find them. I am considering ordering some publications on Monongalia County, VA and would love to eliminate the ones that they are not in. Thank you in advance for the help. Tammy Knipp
