    1. [PAMONVAL] Mifflin Township Historical Society
    2. The newly formed Mifflin Township Historical Society will hold its monthly meeting on Tuesday, May 8, 2001, at 7:00 PM, at the Carnegie Library of Homestead, 510 10th Avenue, Homestead PA 15120. Mifflin Township came into being in 1788, in area purchased from Virginia. The township started at Streets Run (Six Mile Ferry), in what is now the Hays section of Pittsburgh, on the Monongahela River, and extended 12 miles along the river to the Washington County line. Over the years, the communities of Clairton, Duquesne, Dravosburg, Hays, Homestead, Jefferson, Lincoln Place (31st Ward), Munhall, Pleasant Hills, West Elizabeth, West Homestead, West Mifflin and Whitaker were formed from Mifflin Township. The Society extends an invitation to any and all individuals who are seeking their roots in Mifflin Township to attend the upcoming meeting, and to join and participate in the Society.
