The cemetery I have been searching for is on the 1876 map of Bentleyville as illustrated in the Dartnell book. It was back of the Mitchell property on Main St., between the schoolhouse and the Taylor property. In 1889, Isaac Mitchell wrote in his will, "The lot in Bentleysville is not to be sold but held in trust for a burying ground." There is now no indication of a graveyard, and it is partly paved over. Various people have told me that the stones had been stolen, beginning in the 1920s, and used for doorsteps or hearth stones over the years. It is possible that Hannah Burt Mitchell and Mary Burt Mitchell, both died 31 Dec. 1823, may be buried there. Mike, if you or anyone finds any Mitchell stones, I would be very grateful to hear about it. Lynne Mayer __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
