Hello, I seem to have accidentally deleted the info that someone sent me re where I could obtain obit info for people living in Charleroi who died between 1950 and 1970. I believe that the paper was the Monnessen Independent which someone sent me a link or address. Could I please have the information again? Thank you, Marilyn, Lake Co., IL; marjenp@mindspring.com.
Does anyone on the list have any info on an Edith West who married a John Jenkins? They lived in Charleroi, PA. >From her records at the Mon City Cemetery, Edith died August 13, 1966, at the age of 86, which would mean that she must have been born in 1880. I don't know if Edith and John had any children; but, the owner of the plot is listed as a John Jenkins of 424 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi. I know that Edith and John lived on 5th Street, in Charleroi. Would like to know who the John Jenkins of 424 Fallowfield was; and, what was his connection to my dad's uncle and aunt. Thank you, Marilyn (Jenkins) Prinzing, Lake Co., IL; marjenp@mindspring.com.
Marilyn, Could it be Organic Brain Syndrome? It is a common diagnosis in the elderly but I don't know if it would have been used back then. Hello, Could some kind person on the list check for an obit for John Jenkins who died January 6, 1962?. He and his wife Edith lived on 5th Street in Charleroi, Pa. I just got his Death Certificate from New Castle which was not clearly copied. The DC was handwritten by a Dr. Priscilla Popp whose handwriting is terrible. It looks like he died at Torrance State Hospital; but, I can't be sure. Does anyone know if I would be able to get his record from Torrance? John died at the age of 87. I am interested in the cause of death because the first word is illegible; but, the next two word are brain syndrome; however, the major cause was Bronchial Pneumonia. I am also interested in learning the maiden name of John's wife, Edith. The DC looks like she might have been Edith West Jenkins. John Jenkins was my late father's favorite uncle. Uncle John and my grandfather, Robert L. Jenkins use to put on Vaudeville shows in the Mon Valley when my dad was young. If there is a Web Site where I can retrieve an obit from 1962, I would appreciate knowing about it. Thank you, Marilyn (Jenkins) Prinzing, Lake Co., IL; marjenp@mindspring.com. Hello, In researching my WRIGHT lines, I found several Steeles buried in the same plots in a cemetery near Uniontown/Pleasant Unity, Westmoreland or Fayette county, PA. I would like to know more about them and how they tied to the Wrights: Bessie (1909-1998) married to Edwin E. Wright (1910-1972) Next to them is George F. Steele (June 1913- April 1974) Nearby is a headstone for Florence W. Steele ( 1913-blank) Is Florence still alive? Was she a Wright at birth? Does anyone know how to contact her or her descendants.?? I've been seeking Wrights for years - too common a name when only first names available ! Thanks in advance, Mimi in Denver cm.curtis@gateway.net Seeking Strauss, Nusser, McCrackin, Wright, Bigley, Stairs, Riffle, Parfet

Hi All, A friend of mine had a grandfather who died in some sort of an accident at the Ella Mae Mine. He lived in Glassport and is buried in a cemetery in Dravosburg, so I imagine it was around here somewhere! Has anyone ever heard of the Ella Mae (or Ella May) mine? She's curious about where it was and what years it would have been in operation. Thanks for any info, Debbi Anthony
With Memorial Day coming up, I thought list members might be interested in this information. When I was in Pennsylvania a few years ago, I stopped in the office of the Monongahela Cemetery and asked if they knew of anyone I could pay to plant flowers on graves, and keep the flowers weeded and watered. They said they, the cemetery, would, for $15 a grave, plant geraniums and marguerites, keep then watered and weeded, from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Since I live in Northern California and can't care for the graves myself, I think this is a wonderful service and have just paid (for the third year) for some of my ancestors. (Paying for all of them would bankrupt me.) If interested, the deadline is MAY 18, 2001, and requests should be sent to: MONONGAHELA CEMETERY POST OFFICE BOX 164 MONONGAHELA PA 15063

HI MARY, I note the name Zundell in your surname list. Any connection with Louella Goslin(1877-1945) who was married to William A. Zundel(d. 1942)? They farmed near Belle Vernon, had at least two daughters: Virginia(b. 1890) and Pearl(b. 1903). Someone married a Frank Lewellyn. I'm descended from Louella's grandfather Nelson Goslin(1811-1869) of Brownsville. Will appreciate any connection with her family. --- Katherine Art <kate194@earthlink.net> ---------- >From: "Mary Rutherford" <marylee@qcol.net> >To: PAMONVAL-L@rootsweb.com >Subject: [PAMONVAL] Surname posting-NEAL/NEIL >Date: Mon, May 7, 2001, 1:32 PM > > > > Hi everyone, > > Thought I would post my surnames again as it has been quite a while >since my last posting. > > Looking for information on the NEAL/NEIL Family of BELLE VERNON, PA. > > JOHN S. John Thomas Evans and his wife Emlar Smallman Evans came to Mon City around 1880 or so, just a guess, from Manchester, England. They were coal miners. Later his son James Smallman Evans and Sarah came over, both at different times; James around 1903-4 and Sarah around 1906-7, to join his parents. They had MANY children. I am descended from a daughter of James and Sarah, Lily, who married a Shoaff from New Castle, PA. If anyone knows of any Evans families I'd love to talk with you. It has been awhile since I posted regarding the children of Robert Roley b. 1812; d. 1870 and Hulda Anne Howe; b. 1840/45; d. 1882. Need to find info on and find descendants of Alice and her brother, Robert Roley. The Roleys lived in and around the area of Belle Vernon, PA.; but, some may have lived in Washington Co. While Robert Roley had 8 children with his first wife Eliza Tuman, d. 1859, he only had 4 with second wife Hulda Howe. The birth order of their children as follows: Lemon Roley b. 1862; (A descendant has been found living in Connellsville, PA. May, 2000) Alice Roley b. 1863. We would like to know her married name and find a descendant. Harrison Roley b. 1865, m. Clara Jane Worrell b.1865(my g,grandparents) Robert Roley b. 1868. We need to learn the name of his spouse and find a descendant. The two younger children; Harry and Robert were raised by Hulda's second husband Peter Shevlin who lived at East Pike Run Twp., Washington Co. Harry raised his own family at Seldom Seen hill in Belle Vernon. I think that Robert may have also ended up in Belle Vernon; but, am not sure. Hopefully, someone can help me tie some loose ends with this family. Marilyn (Jenkins) Prinzing, Lake Co., IL; marjenp@mindspring.com.
