To Kelly, I come from a McIhaney line early in Chester Co., and/or Lancaster PA also. John Bowen a Welshman married a Scotch-Irish girl age 17, the daughter of Henry and Jane McIhaney from Ireland (about 1730-31). Her father had died when she was an infant (in Ireland) leaving two children, Lily and Henry. Her mother remarried Mr. Hunter and they had a large family of children. Mrs. Hunter and her daughters brought the first small flax wheel to Pennsylvania. Lilly McIlhaney Bowen and John moved south to Augusta Co., VA about 1730-31 and their first child was born in 1732, Orange Co., VA. They had a total of 13 children . Perhaps George was a cousin to Lilly and Henry. I have looked at a book "Guide to the Mortgages of the General Loan Office of the Provice of PA 1724-1756" by Duffin, and there is no mention of the name McEl/Ilhaney there. I do see the name whenever I check old southwest Virginia or TN .
