Greetings, I am a new subscriber to this list. I descend from immigrant Michael ZIEGLER (1684-1765) and his great-grandson, Peter Ziegler. Most of the following information comes from "Genealogical and Biographical Annals of Northumberland County, PA." 1911, Floyd & Co., pp. 327-328 and "Joseph A. Meiser, Jr. Publications" which did extended family research based on Floyd's book using census, cemetery, and funeral records. Peter ZIEGLER was born on 2 Dec. 1778, Frederick Township, Montgomery Co., PA. He married before1810 to Mary "Polly" KEHLER (b. abt 4 Dec 1783 -d. 10 Nov 1876, age 92y-11mos-6d). Peter was a stonemason and owned a tract of land near Ziegler's Church. (see question below). With both his parents deceased by 1825, he left Montgomery County and "went west" settling in Northumberland County, about 1840 (while in his 60's) with the Walt & Weiss families, also of Montgomery County. Peter died 2 Jun 1856, in Wildcat Valley, 3 miles from Liverpool, Perry County, PA., at age 77. The Floyd book says he is buried at St. James Church, Perry County, PA. The Mieser research says both he and "Polly" are buried in Stone Valley Cemetery. Their children: i. Andrew/Andreas ZIEGLER + Catherine HARNER and later Lovinia STRAWSER ii. Abraham ZIEGLER, married c1833 + Catherine "Katie" WALT (They moved to MO. about 1878) iii. Alfred ZIEGLER + Harriet BATDORF iv. Nancy ZIEGLER + Geroge NIEMAN v. Eliza ZIEGLER + Isaac HEFFELFINGER vi. Magdalene "Lena" ZIEGLER + Willoughby WALT My Questions: 1) Is there a "Ziegler's Church" located anywhere in Montgomery County? 2) Does anyone have info on the marriage of Peter ZIEGLER to Mary "Polly" KEHLER c1809? 3) Does anyone have info on the marriage of Abraham ZIEGLER to Catherine "Katie" WALT c1833? 4) Does anyone have any information on the KEHLER family? I have nothing. 5) I am also interested in the WALT/WALDT family and have some information to swap/share. Blessings, Brad Ziegler Union, MO.
