People didn't always take the time to travel to the county seat to record a birth, especially if there was no doctor present at the delivery. Later, they may have discovered that they needed proof of the birth of a child, so they went to the courthouse and recorded it then. I had an Uncle born in the 1890s, probably in Montgomery County, and his birth certificate was a delayed issue in Berks at the time of his death (in Berks County). I guess they couldn't record him as deceased until they had him recorded as being born. Check the delayed date issue and see if there was anything els going on in the family at the time....(i.e. an estate settlement, entering school, death, etc.) Betty Burdan <bjburdan@ptd.net>
