This was family legend and could be wrong. Charles Evans was on the faculty at Hill School for a number of years. He became interested in metallurgy and eventually moved to Pittsburgh where he was employed in the steel industry as a specialist on stainless steels. Charles was born in 1873 and graduated from Dickinson College probably about 1895. His tenure at Hill would have been after that, possibly before 1911. I suspect that he would have taught chemistry.
