History of Chester County Haines John of Lumberton, NJ was a settler as early as 1683, and is said to have lived in cave. Traiditon stated he sent for his father and brothers to come to this county, and that the father died at sea. Richard Haines was doubtless the father of John, Richard, William, Thomas, and Joseph, who all lived in Burlington County. John Haines husbandman and Esther Borton, married 10/10/1684 in Burlington County, she was doubtless the d/o John and Ann Borton of Ayno, Northampton county, NJ., born 5/25/1667 John and Esther had children-John, Elizabeth, Jonathan,Mary, Esther, Isaac, Caleb, Joisah, Rebecca, Phebe , Anne, and perhaps other. The father purcharsed 965 acres of land in Goshen, Chester county, PA., in 1702. All of these children except Esther and Mary came to Goshen. Rebecca married Joseph Matlack, Phebe, married John Burros (Burroughs). John Hains Jr., with his wife Elizabeth, came from NJ in 1711. His wife died about 1726, and in 1728 he married Jane Smith. He returned to NJ before his death Isaac Haines, came over as early as 1714, and in that year he married Catharine, d/o Ellis David, of Goshen. Children; Esther, born 6/13/1716, Hannah, born 1/4/1717, married to John Eachus, Isaac, born 8/10/1718, Mary, 6/2/1720, married William Wall and ___ Martin, Jane, 12/18/1721, married Joseph Yarnell, Ellis, married 8/10/1751 to Margaret Jomes, Lydia married 2/1/1748 to Ellis William, Josiah married Ann Husband, Phebe, married to Daniel Durborrow, Sarah. Isaac Haines Jr., was married 8/5/1744 to Mary d/o Lawrence and Ellen Cox of Willistown. Children; Eleanor who married Jacob Butler, and Thomas Frame, Isaac married about 1772 to Lydia Davis, Caleb, born 6/17/1754, Jesse, born 9/14/1756, died 9/8/1856, marrid Rachel Otley, d/o James and Ann, John who married Martha Sharpless, 4/6/1797 and to Mary Hoopes, and on 5/14/1801 to Lydia Thomas.
