Hi Amy, I'm awfully sorry that I haven't responded to your answer to my post about quarries in Montgomery County sooner. I had a lot of responses, and the birth of a fourth grandchild, so things have been hectic. I have also gotten on an "ELLIS kick" in the UK, and have been posting to lists there, as well. I really do appreciate your answer. I never knew that marble was quarried in the Conshohocken area, although I should have. I knew of the quarry at King Manor, and the fact that they had quarried limestone at Port Kennedy for the forge at Valley Forge, but until your letter never thought of the large Glasgow quarry at Ivy Rock. I worked at Alan Wood Steel for 10 years, and passed that quarry every day, but didn't think of it until you wrote. Someday, I hope to find out which of these quarries were operating from the 1850s on, and which one of these my ggg grandfather worked at. Thanks again, Bob Reifsneider
