Looking for info regarding marriage, parents, etc. for following from Pennsylvania: Dar records show marriage dated May 1, 1801 for: Joseph Tomlinson - b. Mar 23, 1772, d. Aug 6, 1858 Sarah McCreary - b. 1777 d. Dec 24, 1819 Tomlinson is sometimes also spelled Tumbleson. I believe this may be the Joseph Tumbleson in 1799 tax assessment of Huntington Twp. who later moved to Latimore Twp. (My reference is from History of Adams Co ,PA 1886). DAR records say Sarah was daughter of Amos McCreary and Hannah Whinery. Some McCreary researchers doubt this since she is not listed in Amos' will however, she is listed as a grandaughter in Hannah Whinnery's father, Robert's will in York Co. Whinery's were in York Co as was Amos McCreary. Amos is also listed in Mountpleasant Twp, Adams County in the 1800 assessment list made in 1799.(History of Adams Co, PA 1886) I have searched the book Menallen Minutes, Marriages & Miscellany and found many references to Elizabeth and Benjamin Tomlinson/Tumbleson who are probably Joseph's mother and brother. Joseph may not have been a Quaker. It has been suggested that perhaps Elizabeth Tomlinson was Elizabeth Comly from Montgomery County and that her husband Benjamin, Sr. was perhaps from the Byberry Tomlinson family. Joseph and Sarah moved to Bedford Co, PA circa 1810. Sarah is buried at Spring Meadow Friends Buial Grounds in Bedford County. Therefore I would think that she would either have been married as a Quaker or there should be records that she was disowned for having a civil ceremony and then taken back in at some point prior to her death - to be buried in this cemetery. Joseph is not buried with her but since she died young leaving him with two young sons and he outlived her by 39 years, he remarried at some point so could be buried with second wife. Any help or suggestions in finding Marriage records, parents, etc. is appreciated. Joyce
