    1. Daniel K. Cassel's Books

    3. I have found the three books that I have (Kolb etc, Cassel etc, Rittenhouse etc -- which is more of a large pamphlet) quite good. Most of the problems have been discussed over the years (the last 100?). Most notably are the early Rittenhuysen linking it to a grand family in Germany. This has turned out to be incorrect. In my personal experience, the more information he presents, the more likely it is correct. It has been problematic when someone has married more than once to someone else who is from a common family. About 10 years ago I had a Swartz problem which Melva Taylor sorted out for me. But there are no major problems which cannot be sorted out even today. But like any genealogy, I wouldn't use it as a bible, but it is as close as you can get for those families. Also, note that in the Kolb book, several Cassel women are listed as daughters of Hupert Cassel. Unfortunately there were several Huperts, so it is best to have both Kolb and Cassel Family books. In regards to the Beans which appear in the Cassel Family book, I was in contact with Harrison Cassel about 10 years ago. He has since passed away and his documentation was given to the Historical Society of Montgomery County. I was fortunate enough, however, to receive his data in gedcom format about 9 years ago, and keep it on file. So if anyone has a Bean question, I *might* be able to help. The way I worked out of the Cassel books is to use it all, and then prove it afterwards. It's accurate to about 90% (if not more). Michel
