    2. Peg, Do you have the link to this Heritage Quest you were talking about? jamie -----Original Message----- From: PEGGIE SHAW <PEGGIESHAW@msn.com> To: PAMONTGO-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Thu, 12 May 2005 10:01:40 -0700 Subject: Re: [PAMONTGO-L] People who is interested in the Cassel Book I accessed the book from Heritage quest...all the pages are there. If you have a library card, check with the library as a lot of them subscribe to Heritage quest and have it available to their patrons. 3. OK I will try to clear up some confusion. You can not access Heritage quest without a subscription to Proquest, which is like a search engine, consisting of many databases (heritage quest being only one of the databases) Proquest is expensive, but many libraries subscribe to it for their patrons to use. So my advise is get out your library card, call your library and ask if 1. they have a subscription to proquest (heritage quest) and 2. if you can access their databases on-line. If your local library does not have a subscription to proquest, try the nearest College library. Some colleges will allow you to access their subscription databases on site, even if you are not a student. Some you must be a student. It is worth a little sleuthing. 3. Try Godfrey Memorial Library in CT. The cost is $35.00 for 12 months. You have access to Heritage Quest; books on line; and newspaper. It is a great bargain. Pat Smith in Tioga Co. 3. If any one on this list lives in CT you have access to Heritage Quest (HQ) from home, just go to: http://www.iconn.org select remote login and enter your library card number. Some areas in other states like NY and ND offer this to there residents, but each County or State that offers it has a diferant way of accessing it. If you know how to access it from another area why not let the list know, someone may be helped who did not know that they had access toHeritage Quest. You can not buy a subscription to HQ yourself, has to be a library or an organization like that. They have thousands of books there scanned in for you to use, to bad that not everyone has free access to it.
