    3. Yes, I agree. The will extract was sitting in my file from years ago. Someone wrote me but said that Jacob was married to Mary Cressman, and I was of not much use to her. She wrote: "I guess there was some bad blood between him and his only son?? Anyway, it appears that this Jacob -dec'd was married to a Mary CREFSMAN (sic). There were some guardianship papers later, which her brother handled for this Jacob's, deceased, children: Catherine, Hannah, Margaret, Dilman, and Susanna." Unfortunately I can't seem to reach the person who wrote me. But I'm grateful for the correction. With my 5 year gap not having internet, there's been quite an improvement in resources, but a lot of people have changed their addresses. At least this is now sorted out in my file. By the way, when I was at MHEP, Joel Alderfer told me that the mother of said Jacob was not Susannah (Custer) Kuster, but Keyser. He showed me a copy of the bible it came from, it was written in the feminine "Keißerin". Joel had this printed in one of the MHEP newsletters a few years back, which I do not have, but I do have a big note in my files to that effect. I don't have her parents yet, but I haven't looked too hard there. So many people to look up, so little time!!! Michel

    3. Thank you, Michel, you've answered the question I asked of Glenn Landis. A family Bible is pretty good documention as far as I'm concerned. I think the Custer surname came from the book "Kolb, Kulp and Culp Family" by Daniel Kolb Cassel, 1895, in which he listed her maiden name as Krister, so some people assumed it was Kuster/Custer. However, I don't know where the idea came from that she was a daughter of Conrad Custer. I notice that Dirck & Alitje/Alice (Nyce) Keyser had a daughter named Hannah born in the right timeframe...I've also seen Susanna (Custer) Kolb's name as Hannah. Another possibility for her parents is Andrew & Hannah (Lukens) Keyser, though that is based on nothing but their being married about a year before Susanna's birth. Anyway, thank you again, Michel, for the report on Joel Alderfer's findings.
