    1. Researching KUHN family

    3. Hello: Recently discovered the births of several children at the New Hanover Lutheran Church, Montgomery County: KUHN, Johannes, born 3 July 1762 to FRIDERICH and ANNA MARIA. Sp John Mayer & wife. KUHN, Heinrich, born 11 Sept 1760 to FRIDERICH and ANNA MARIA. Sp Heinrich Schaedler and wife. Some background: FRIDERICH KUHN was born abt. 1711 in Germany. He is the son of ABRAHAM (born abt. 1683) & EVE (born abt. 1674) KUHN. Siblings were: Catharina, born abt. 1709; Hans Jerg, born abt. 1718 and Anna Crete, born abt. 1722. FRIDERICH KUHN came from Germany on the ship Samuel with his parents and siblings. They sailed from Rotterdam by way of Deal arriving in Philadelphia 17 August 1733. FRIDERICH KUHN married ANNA MARIA. Where (Philadelphia, Easton ?) and when I do not know. A child, JACOB was born 10 Sept 1751 in Easton, Northampton County. There was also Isaac, Abraham, John, Stephen and Catherin. No dates or birthplaces are known at this time. I would guess Easton until abt 1760 when the two children above were born in your county. Alot of questions to answer. Is there anyone else researching this family. I would love to hear from you. I am also in need of some help or direction. Does anyone know where the New Hanover Lutheran Church is located? Is it still up and running? Where would I be able to locate the records of these children? Thank you in advance for your time and energy, Warm wishes, Judy --------------------------------- Yahoo! Photos Ring in the New Year with Photo Calendars. Add photos, events, holidays, whatever.

    3. Can anyone provide information on an area called Beggar's town? Found a reference to it in a will, referring to a church that was there and then again on the 1820 census as a place in Montgomery County. Would like to find more about it. All help or suggestions appreciated. Leslie

    3. Judy....... There is some early info, which you probably already have, of them at Williams Twp Congregation, Northampton, in early 1750s. If you look at a map, that is almost directly north of what is now New Hanover in Montgomery Co with some of the western part of Bucks county sandwiched in-between. Now in that era, the families were involved with Indian raids, etc on the 'frontiers', so perhaps they moved down to New Hanover area and a more civilized area. From FTM CD 130 - Pennsylvania German church Records: Williams Township Congregation: Communicants in 12/6/1750: Frederick KUHN, w. Anna, mother Eva Communicants 5/17/1752: Frederick KUHN, w. Anna, sister Catharine Communicants on 4/22/1753 Friedrich KUHN, w. Anna Catharine Philipp, Wilhelm Philipp's wife Communicants Anno 1754 10 dom Trinity: Friedrich KUHN w. Anna (It seems that the w. means 'with' and not wife in these entries) New Hanover Lutheran Church has a website which shows directions to get there and history of the church: http://www.newhanoverlutheran.org/<http://www.newhanoverlutheran.org/> There is a marriage of a KUNTZ in Falkner Swamp Reformed church, near New Hanover in 1796, but not sure if the same family: Sarah KUNTZ, dau of Friederick to John, son of Henry Hohlenbusch, on 3/22/1796. (This could be COONZ/KOONS? variation) Also a death/burial in same church records: Apollonia KUNTZ on 5/22/1777. (no further info) Have you used the Pennsylvania Archives which are online and queriable? http://demos.iarchives.com/anc_04//search.jsp?toc=b6ssqujqas8<http://demos.iarchives.com/anc_04//search.jsp?toc=b6ssqujqas8> You may find more information regarding tax lists, and land warrants, etc on that site for him which would track his movements. It is a Demo site, and it always asks permission, etc before using! Just click on whatever the positive response would be to see results/hits of a query! Have fun! and Happy Hunting!
