Hello everybody, I have just joined the list, so before I bombard you with my request, please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Alan Leighton, and though I was born and raised in California, I have spent more than half my life in Germany seeking my fortune as a symphony orchestra musician. I was bitten in my college days by the genealogy bug, and a shocking number of decades later, I find it still to be a challenging and rewarding pursuit. Despite my English family name, a good part of my ancestors came from Germany, and some of them immigrated to Pennsylvania. I am at home in both the English and German languages, but I find that old-style Fraktur handwriting very difficult to decipher. (Well, to be honest, I have copies of some old Revolutionary War pension files, and that old American handwriting isn't easy either!!) My current project is a database on the Homrighausen name. I have Marie Catharina HOMRIGHAUSEN, born 1721, marrying the Reverend Johann Philipp LEYDICH on 26 May 1744, and emigrating to Philadelphia in 1748. They settled in Montgomery Co., PA, where the Rev. Leydich achieved a certain amount of fame. He is buried in the Leydich cemetery. I have a number of questions --- 1. What is the status of the Leydich cemetery? Is it abandoned and overgrown, or is it still fairly well kept? 2. Are the German origins of Johann Philipp LEYDICH and his wife known? I have some second-hand source material here, but if everybody already knows all about it, I wouldn't want to bore you with it. 3. Can anybody shed light on the husbands and families of Johan Philipp Leydich's two Homrighausen sisters-in-law who emigrated with them to Pennsylvania? According to one source, one married Andreas SASSAMAN (probably originally Sassmannshausen), and the other married Caspar ACHENBACH (Aschenbach?), but that source has a few inaccuracies in it, so I am not sure about this. If you are interested in or know anything about these topics, I would be grateful to hear from you, either through the list or not (whatever you prefer). Thanks in advance, and best wishes to all, Alan Leighton Bochum, Germany
I've "rescued" two old photographs belonging to the SCHULTZ Family of Pottstown, Pennsylvania. The first is identified as Ambrose SCHULTZ of Pottstown. It appears to have been taken in the 1870's or 1880's with Ambrose likely in his teens at the time. The second is a photograph of Sallie SCHULTZ of Pottstown, PA. Sallie's photograph was probably taken in the 1880's with Sallie appearing to be in her 20's at the time. With limited research I do find Ambrose and Sallie SCHULTZ living in Hereford, PA with their parents, Menoah & Maryann SCHULTZ during the 1880 census. At that time Menoah is age 32, Maryann is age 33, and their three children are, Ketura age 11, Ambrose age 8, and Sallie age 7, all born in PA to PA born parents. I'm hoping to locate someone from this SCHULTZ Family so that these wonderful old photographs can be returned to the care of family. If you are a member of this family, or know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley
I have been trying for years to find Magdalena Hoch's parents . She was born 18 may 1773, probably in Berks or Montgomery Co. She married Christian Bleim about 1795. She died 30 mar 1819, I would like to know who her parents and siblings were. Thank you. Jane Green
I have an Elizabeth ODG who is d/o Hermans Isaacs ODG (1642-1708). I also have an Elizabeth (d. bef 1711) who m. Peter Bon (Bun) with three children Peter Bon, Anna (Ankin) Bon and Elizabeth Bon. Are these two Elizabeths (d/o of Herman Isaacs and w/o Peter Bon) the same? Michel
Good Work Diane! I'll make a note in my Rockingham, VA book beside the error.
I did a google search for Daniel K CASSEL. He wrote 3 books about Germantown: and published them in late 1890's: Genea-Biographical History of the Rittenhouse Family, by Daniel K. Cassel, 1897. History of the Cassel Family, by Daniel K. Cassel, 1896 Kulp Family History, by Daniel K. Cassel, 1895. AND his book on the 'Cassel Family in America' was published in Norristown PA 1896 and can be purchased at the Mennonite Heritage Center in Harleysville for $38.! Genealogies: A Genealogical History of the Cassel Family in America Daniel K. Cassel (Norristown, Pa., 1896; reprinted by Selby Publishing, 1989). 465 p.; hardcover $38.00, SEP0652 So it seems that Morristown was a typo and it should be NORRISTOWN! Diana in AL
SEAN, I come from the Hunsbergers. Twice actually. I have the Hunsberger book (to which I contributed). on 15/05/05 2:00, PAMONTGO-D-request@rootsweb.com at PAMONTGO-D-request@rootsweb.com wrote: > > I was wondering...........how many people on this list is related to > Hunsberger since this is biggest family in Montgomery County? > Sean McCauley (My girlfriend is descended from Jacob Martin Hunsberger) > and KASSIE, >Urlich HUNSPERGER b 1670 .... I have them in my computer database, but I did't input more info at the time. A quick look though shows me that the Abraham Huns. who was son of Abraham Huns and Esther Tyson (my line) married Margaret (?), not Cath. Michel

Isn't there a Morristown in New Jersey? Otherwise the Morristown, PA is a typo.
I did a Topozone search for Morristown, Pennsylvania. No Morristown, Pennsylvania was found.
There are two Morristown, NJs - one in Morris County where I was born and one in Middlesex. Subject: Re: [PAMONTGO-L] Morristown PA Just a thought Cynthia, could Morristown possibly be Moorestown, which is above Nazareth PA in Northampton County. If you go to mapquest and put Moorestown and PA into the search function that will take you to the location. Judy -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Anti-Virus. Thanks to everybody for their suggestions. Could Daniel Cassel have lived in Centre County? I haven't followed the Cassel family and I wonder if that seems correct to Cassel researchers. Cynthia
The only one I know of is Norristown. Chocybrown@aol.com wrote:I did a Topozone search for Morristown, Pennsylvania. No Morristown, Pennsylvania was found. ==== PAMONTGO Mailing List ==== List topic Montgromery County PA this means anything genealogy related ex.surnames, locations, history.

The does say Morristown, PA and that the family cam from Kreisheim in the Palatinate in 1681 on the ship Jeffries and settled at Germantown, now Philadelphia. However, the book could always be in error.
I just added histories for the following Townships in Montgomery County, PA to my web site: Marlborough Montgomery Moreland New Hamover Upper Hanover Norriston Perkiomen Potsgrove Upper, Lower and West Providence Plymouth and Whitemarsh http://www.rays-place.com Ray Brown
