    1. William Y. Swinehart obituary 1900
    2. Betty Burdan
    3. Someone inquired about the two sisters (Susan and Catherine Fegely) mentioned in the William Y. Swinehart obituary transcribed below. I've forgotten who asked, so I hope whoever it might have been is on the Montgomery Co. list, or that someone can use the information in the obituary. William, his two wives and a daughter and a Jacob H. Swinehart are buried together at the Pottstown Cemetery, East. Weekly Advocate, Pottstown, PA Saturday, December 8, 1900 William Y. Swinehart, a much esteemed citizen of Pottstown, died on Thursday morning in the University hospital, at Philadelphia. Nearly six weeks ago he went to the hospital to have an operation performed for removal of gaul [sic] stone. His health had been impaired by this trouble for some time previously, but his physical constitution was naturally a strong one. He was in the 69th year of his age. Deceased was twice married, first to Catharine and then Susan Fegely, who were sisters. His children are Mrs. Samuel Wert, William F., Maurice C., Isaac E. and Daniel H. Swinehart, all of Pottstown. He was a brother to Rufus Y. Swinehart, of Pottstown and a step-brother to Howard, of Philadelphia, and Amos Swinehart of Lower Pottsgrove. Deceased was a native of Lower Pottsgrove, and a son of Henry Swinehart. His early years were spent on the farm, but when he was sixteen years of age, he went up into Schuylkill county, near Tamaqua, to do lumbering for William Mintzer, that was the step in the direction of the business that he was destined to follow chiefly in his life. Returning to Pottstown in a few years, he was first employed in the lumber and coal yard of Fegely & Brother, and later he became a member of the firm, which changed to Fegely & Company, the members of it being Jacob Fegely, Samuel Fronheiser and W. Y. Swinehart. Fifteen years ago the firm dissolved and deceased purchased the lumber yard of the late firm and conducted it successfully for some years. Afterward, however, in doing kindness for others came adversity and business reverses. In more recent years Mr. Swinehart served as highway commissioner and for several years past was inspector of lumber at the Agricultural Works. Pottstown Cemetery SWINEHART, William Y. 3. I was thinking that the bible if not purchased was coming from the Robey side of the family. Edwin Robey's parents are Albert William Robey and Editha Viola Evanson. Albert had three siblings who lived until adulthood. His parents were William Albert Robey and Margaret nee Unknown. William's parents were Henry Robey and Emma B. nee Unknown, they had a total of 11 children. Henry Robey and a large number of his children were born in Philadelphia, along with most subsequent generations. I have not done sufficent research on the Robey line, but intend to know to see if the bible related at all to the Robey line. My judgement says no, but I think I have to do it anyway. Thanks for your input. Sincerely, J.A. 3. When we lived in Warrington, Bucks County there were several Severns families there. Don't know if they are still there but I don't live in that area anymore. Jane -----Original Message----- From: James Evanson [mailto:jaevanson@yahoo.com] Sent: Tuesday, January 03, 2006 12:59 AM To: PAMONTGO-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [PAMONTGO-L] White/Severns Family Bible I recently came into an old family bible belonging to the White and Severns family. The bible was given to me by an Edwin Robey who said he received it from his mother when she passed away. Mr. Robey is now in his 80's. He believed it to be an Evanson family bible, however, I think I have quickly disbanded that thought. Anyway, I am going to share the brief information is provides on a few individuals in hope that someone will recognize the information. Marriages: Abraham Larue Severns to Catharine Henzey White (no date) Births: Thos. H. White - 14 Oct 1814 Sallie A. White - 9 Jul 1847 Ann White - 18 May 1816 Catharine Henzey White - 6 May 1842 Ann Bartram White - 8 Nov 1842 James Steel White - 3 Jan 1845 Abraham Larue Severns - 12 May 1835 Eva May Severns - 14 Mar 1877 Edith Ray Severns - 14 Mar 1877 Deaths: Thomas H. White - 16 Jun 1863 (the 1860 census shows his wife a widow in 1860) Sallie A. White - 27 Feb 1872 Ann White (no date) James Steel White (no date) Edith Ray Severns - 5 Apr 1877 Eva May Severns - 25 Apr 1891 all the names are in the order in which they appear in the book. The book itself was printed in 1864 in Philadelphia; it contains three books: The Old Testament, the Apocrapha, and the New Testament. There are some beautiful lithographs also. Anyway, if anyone recognnizes these Bucks and Philadelphia dwelling families please let me know, I am interested in seeing how these families relate to the part of my family who had the bible. Sincerely, James A. Evanson P.S. This bible will be kept in my home only for a short time, I plan on donating it to the Bucks County Historical Society so it can be properly preserved. Please do not ask for it. __________________________________ Yahoo! for Good - Make a difference this year. http://brand.yahoo.com/cybergivingweek2005/ ==== PAMONTGO Mailing List ==== List topic Montgromery County PA this means anything genealogy related ex.surnames, locations, history. -- No virus found in this incoming message.
