Mostly because both families seemed to use Neis as another spelling???? I have many Landes/Landis names on my database. You can email me at relativess@aol.com thanks, Sharon

I have a death certificate for the same Charles giving his parents names as JESSA FENSTERMACHER and ELIZABETH FREED. I find a JOSIAH FENSTERMACHER age 34 on the 1850 census for Berks Co. with a wife ELIZABETH, and children REASELLA (probably should be Pricilla)age 10; CHARLES age 8; CAROLINE age 5; EMMA age 6/12. I think these are all the same family. Does anyone out there have any information that would connect these people beyond any doubt? I am at the wall with this one trying to sort them out. My primary interest is the GOTWALS surname. Most all can be traced to the imigrant Adam Gotwalt who immigrated from Germany, or perhaps Holland, on Ship Samuel from Rotterdam August 27, 1739 (name Adam Gotwalt aged 20 on list) He bought 100 acres in Skippack 10 May 1748 from John FREED and in the Skippack census of June 1756 is listed with 6 children. He later moved to Towamencin Twp. and purchased land from Christian MAY in 1772. He was one of the largest property owners in Towamencin Twp., Montgomery Co., Penna, being assessed in 1776 for 270 acres, 3 horses and seven cows. In his will, made in 1792, he gave the farm to his son Henry (married Elizabeth FUNK), and the other heirs were listed as "...Elizabeth Gotwals, Yarichen, wife of Joseph JOHNSON; Maria, wife of John HALLMAN; Fronica, wife of Benjamin HALLMAN; Anna, wife of Samuel HENDRICKS and Magdalena (DETWEILER), wife of Abraham GOTWALS." Glad to share what information I have........Robert
To All: I'm searching for information on the parents of Jacob HUNTSBERGER (b. ca 1726) who arrived in VA buying land in 1760 near Shepherdstown. He was the son of Margaret and Henry HUNTSBERGER/HONTSBERGER. Margaret(b. 20 Sept 1709) and Henry (b abt 1700?) may have been married in Montgomery or surrounding counties. We are trying to connect to the Hunsberger families of Montgo. Co., especially to the first Hans who died in 1733 (his name could have been Hans Heinrich) as men in 4 generations after Jacob were John Henry. His brother-in-law was Jacob Landis. This connection can't be found in the HUNSPERGER Family Assn or genealogy books. Still looking Joanne Huntsberry Martinsburg, WV
