    1. [PAMONTGO-L] My surnames
    2. Hello all, The surnames I'm searching in Montgomery County (Norristown) are KNOTT and JONES in approximately 1820-1860. - James KNOTT (from England) m. Hester ? (both born approx 1800) - Children: Daniel KNOTT (not sure of any others at this point) - Daniel married Mary Jane JONES (both born approx 1840, Mary Jane JONES born in Wales, not sure if she was from Montgo, though). I believe Daniel and Mary Jane KNOTT moved to Pottsville, Schuylkill County, in the mid 1800's. Daniel was a laborer. My info is very limited on these early people - any possible info would be of great help! Thanks... Holly Knott HollyKnott@aol.com

Joyce, I have lots and lots of Tomlinsons in Phila, Mont and Bucks Co . Wonder if this Amos could be Amos b. 1855 and wife, Jetta A Phipps. They are not direct ancestors so it is not important. 2. Some additional information to yesterday's post re: Thomas W. Cleaver and Lydia Ann Tomlinson: In the book "A Cronology of Quaker Valley and Nearby Areas, Bedford County, PA." there are several pages of a "gossip" type column written by someone in Fishertown for the Bedford Gazette for 1888-1891. In this column are several references to them: April 30, 1889 Thomas W. Cleaver was summoned to Philadelphia yesterday on the occasion of the death of his wife's aunt. May 28, 1889 Comly Walton and wife, of near Philadelphia, paid a short visit in the family of Thomas Cleaver last week. August 20, 1889 Amos Tomlinson and wife, of near Philadelphia, spent a few days in the pleasant home of their uncle, Thomas Cleaver. November 5, 1889 Thomas W. and Irvine Cleaver were among the number at Friend's yearly meeting last week. The above named remained for a short visit after close of meeting. July 3, 1890 Yesteday was Friends' quarterly meeting here. ...........The ministers in attendance were Watson Tomlinson, of near Philadelphia, and Levi Benson, of near Columbus , Ohio. Both these distinguished Friends were actively and earnestly engaged at the various sessions of the meeting. ................two Miss Cleavers, of Unionville, and Mr. Tomlinson are also tarrying a short time among us. November 18, 1890 Thomas Cleaver and Hiram Blackburn represent the Friends' Society of this place in their quarterly meeting at Grampian Hills, Clearfield County. Do these references ring any bells with the Montgomery Co Tomlinson family? Thanks, Joyce in Anchorage

    3. Hi, I'm a Bedford Co volunteer genealogist, and also a close friend of some Quaker Tomlinsons in NJ. Yes, I have seen that name here in our county. I work at the hist soc every Friday and can check out a few things for you. But, if FLOYD doesn't give us too much rain, I'll heading for Annapolis in the morning and won't be working this week. The NJ/Phila Tomlinsons are concentrated on the name of "Ephraim" in every generation. They very early had mills in South Jersey, then Gloucester Co, now Camden Co. (I grew up in that area, and moved here on retirement). I can give you their pedigree chart as I drew it up for them. There is a Croyle book for sale here. I think it sells for $45 or $40 and I know nothing about its accuracy or contents.
