Attention, Thelma: I noticed in the recent roll call you mentioned Walter Thomas BISBING, 1890-1951. I found the following in a Montgomery Co. cemetery inventory, at the Boehm's Church cemetery in Whitpain Township: Peter S. BISBING, d. 1880 aged 78 and Elizabeth his wife, d. Feb 26, 1855. Could these be related to Walter Thomas, perhaps grandparents? In the same plot is Annamaria BISBING, daughter of Philip SHENEBERG, died July 20, 1810, aged 43 years, 6 mos., 28 days. I am guessing that Annamaria may have been the mother of Peter. She would have been born in 1766, Peter in 1802. I picked up on this because I'm working on Shenebergers. My source is a DAR GRC publication entitled, "Montgomery County, Pennsylvania Tombstone Inscriptions", ed. by Elaine Baker Mellett, printed 1938 rpr 1996, p. 95. Regards, Carol .
I have a Daniel Sampey that married a Jane Hendricks ( Jane was born in 1760) & a Barbara Hendricks that married a William Sampey. ( William was born in 1785). But .... no Barbara Hendricks that married a Daniel Sampey. What is this connection???? THanks, Sharon
Looking for any information on Daniel Sampey who married Barbara Hendricks and lived in the Franconia area in the 1780's. He left his wife and moved to Maryland (Frederick or Hagerstown). Two of their descendants married a BERGEY and HENDRICKS (again). Any one recognize this family? Marie Sampey Hvezda
Hi All: I hadn't thought about specific European origins when I asked for destinations. My Johann Christian Sackrider was nineteen at the time he immigrated to Amerrica and was the son of a deceased pastor. He was born and lived in Asswiller, Alsace Lorraine. This is near Drulingen, Saar-Union and Keskastel. His brother, also born in Asswiller, stayed in Alsace and raised a family in Keskastel. Christian was the only passenger of his name on the ship. I muse that he may have met his future wife during the long voyage. There were many young ladies on board. Fletcher
Cathy Berger: About the 7th Day Baptist Cemetery - I was there about 2 weeks ago. I am surprised at the Historical Society for not knowing about it - uou must have spoken to the wrong person. Do you live in southeastern PA? If so, I will give you precise directions to the cemetery which is located along Rte 23 north of Coverntyville. I took a lot of pictures of gravestones but they are still in the camera. Please send me your E-mail address so that I can get in touch with you as soon as the roll is developed. Although my last name is Thomas, the Thomases that are buried are not related but were very influential in early Chester Co. Please get in touch ASAP Mabel L. Montco Listers, I am searching for the parents of my GGGGrandfather, Lewis/Louis H MOORE, d 31 July 1880, who m Sarah [Johnson] BEAN (1834-1913), (d/o Jacob [Hunsicker] BEAN and Elizabeth [Johnson] JOHNSON, Resided in Hatfield, Montgomery Co, PA, at the time of his death. William S ANDERSON, from the Skippack/Perkiomen region, (1818 - 1895), m Magdalena (Helena) [Reiff] BERGEY (1831-1901) and had at least two children, David, and Solomon, born about the 1860s. I think that William had at least one brother, Jesse S ANDERSON (1809-1888), my GGGGrandfather, who married Maria KRAMER (1816-1896) in 1835. William and Jesse are buried in the Lower Skippack Mennonite Cemetery. I am interested in corresponding with anyone who might have any clues regarding parents of William and Jesse; I presume the mother's maiden surname begins with S. I am also interested in identifying Maria KRAMER's parents. My GGGGrandfather, Martin [Summers] BOSSERT (son of George and Sarah), was born about 1819 and died in 1851. He married Mary BEAN (ca 1818-ca 1895) before 1845. I think they lived in Norriton and are buried at Wentz's Reformed Cemetery. I am trying to determine if Mary is the daughter of Henry BEAN (1784-1865) and Elizabeth [Tyson] VAN FOSSEN (1784-1870). I am also interested in identifying the parents of Martin's father, George BOSSERT (1790-1866). I am interested in corresponding with anyone researching any of these lines. I have a lot of information on descendents of these individuals as well as collateral lines, and would be more than happy to share what I have. Thanks in advance. Attn: Bruce I have some LANDIS and MOHR info but they are disjointed! Elias N MOHR (Union Twp Berks Co 1793-1864) m Mary KERST (Union Berks Co 1793-18??). They had 5 children: Daniel, Mary, Esther K, Charlotte K and another son?? . Charlotte K Mohr married George W SAVAGE. They had Clara SAVAGE(1851 -1900) who married Daniel W LANDIS.(1850-1886). Clara and Daniel lived in Pottstown and are buried in Mt Zion Cemetery in Pottstown with Clara's mother, Charlotte K Mohr Savage who died in 1902. Daniel LANDIS parents were Daniel LANDIS (b10/27/1803) and Elizabeth JONES from Chester CO PA. They lived in Warwich Twp in 1850 CR. I do not know where they were born. Elizabeth's mother, MARY JONES, lived with them until she died in 1866 at age 99 11m. Daniel and ELizabeth are buried in St Peter's UCC Cemetery near Knauertown, Chester Co. Mary Jones is buried in Oak Grove Cemetery in Parkerford, Chester CO. George Savage, husband of Charlotte K Mohr, is also buried in Oak Grove Cemetery. Elias Mohr was son of George Mohr and Anna Maria Newkirch, also from Berks Co.(Robeson). George Mohr was son of Conrad Mohr and Margaretha KOHLER from the Palatinate, in Germany and entered US in 9/1741 on ship LYDIA at age 22. If these connect, please advise. I have been looking for family of Daniel LANDIS (b 1803) and Mary JONES for a while! Diana
I agree with Fletcher - an interesting discussion might be to show where the immigrants from a particular ship eventually settled. These immigrants traveled as groups of families or as members of a town or congregation. I had hopes that by doing this study I might someday find a location in Germany as point of origin. I started taking the names of the New Hanover congregation and comparing them with ship passenger lists but never finished the study. Here is what I have from my beginning notes though. I WAS ONLY LOOKING AT THE SHIPS QUEEN ELIZABETH AND SHIP ROBERT & ALICE. All these people are in New Hanover Lutheran records. Maybe someday I'll finish this. ALT, Queen Elizabeth 1738 BAEHR/Bayer, Q.E. 1738 BRANDT, Q.E. 1738 BIELLER/BIERLE, 1744 Robert & Alice BUFFELL 1748 Robert & Alice BENDER/BENER , 1746, 1747, 1753 and 1756 KOCH/COX 1747 Queen Elizabeth, 1767 GUNCKELL,KONKELL, CUNCKEL, KUNKEL 1749 Q.E. EICHELBERGER/EIGLEBOURNER 1763 KALB,KOLP,KOLB 1745,1748, 1751, 1760 EAKERS/YEEKS in church records ICKES 1738 Q.E. SILVIUS from Q. E. had a child bapt. Jordan Lutheran Church - can't find my notes but I think I remember this is Northampton Co. With my Ickes people there is also a few years when no records are found right after their immigration. But, did they really expect that 250 years later all of us would be frantically searching for them? Did they think that their records would be important to anyone but themselves? Of course not. Hope other will keep up this discussion...and if anyone has point of origin in Germany, please include that also. Barb

I was reading your email because of the Berger (not mine), when I realized that Halleman is the name of the cemetery near Coventry, PA in which my ancestors, Jacob and Sarah Updegrove are supposed to be buried. I was also told Seventh Day Baptist. The Chester Co hist soc told me thay had never heard of it. The Seventh Day Baptist national headquarters couldn't give me any help. Can you? Hi, I am researching John Kolb, who was born about 1820 and died in 1864(Civil War). John married Hannah Imbody in lived in Upper Hanover Township. I have been unable to document his parents (Joseph and Sarah Kolb??). Denise
To Bruce Mertz, What is your ECKERT connection? My line is from Leonard ECKERT who immigrated on Ship Betsy to Philadelphia on Oct 13, 1766. Hi: In another message to this list today, "Subject: Sackrider . . ." I am seeking information on surnames. I also wonder whether anyone on this list has ancestors whom arrived on the Brittania's 1731 trip. If so, what was their migration pattern from the Port of Philadelphia to what is now Montgomery Co. , particularly New Hanover? Did the passengers split up in groups and immediately leave the center of the city for different locales or did they remain in the port area and migrate later? Were the arrivees predestine to go inland to New Hanover to meet up with earlier family immigrants? If some on the list have ancestors whom made that trip we might be able to compile some history of whom went where, when; this could help in our research. Fletcher
Surnames: MERTZ LANDIS MOYER ECKERT BEELER/BEALER/BEHLER sp? SHELLY Possibly HUNSICKER AND MOHR andRosenberger Thanks, Bruce Mertz
Hi: Mary Magdelena Warthman married Johann Christian Sackrider IV in New Hanover in Nov 1758. I know the descendants of that union. I want to know Christian's mother's surname. I believe her to be Mary Elizabeth _________. My guess is that her husband (Christian Sackrider III) deserted and Magdelena (she retained the Sackrider name) and her parents raised Christian IV. A wild guess is that the unknown mother might be a HIRT. I have searched German church records I have never found the marriage of Mary Elizabeth and Christian III which had to occur circa 1731/33 in Philadelphia or environs. Christian III arrived on the Brittania in 1731. I do not know the actual destination of the passengers of that ship, ie. whether some went directly to what is now New Hanover. Fletcher
