    1. [PAMONTGO-L] LUKENS & ENGARD
    2. In the County of Montgomery, November, 1823, there was a "Grand Inquest" on "Joseph LUKENS late of the county aforesaid, wheelright, on the first day of March .... 1823 ... within the jurisdiction of this court, did commit fornication with a certain Mary INGART and a male bastard child on the body of her the said Mary Ingart then and there did beget, contrary to the form of the act of assembly in such case ......." Signed: Thomas ELDER, Attorney General Witness: Mary Ingart, (senior?) Anybody know these folks? Does the "late of the county aforesaid" mean Joseph died or left town? Gerre Engard Byrd

    1. [PAMONTGO-L] EMICH and other surnames in Montgomery Co., PA
    2. I have a copy of a Will dated 8th June 1827 for Conrad EMICH of Upper Dublin Twp., Montgomery Co., PA. In the Will, he mentions wife, Mary, and "the girl I now have living with me" as "Lany" who is under 21. His brother, Nicholas, is also mentioned "who lately resided near Rosdorf/Bosdorf" (Germany?)and his sister, Elizabeth, residing same place. Christopher DRESHER (Dresher later renounced his right to executorship) and John B. STERIGERE were his executors. Jacob REDIFER and Henry SELTZER were the witnesses. In a supplemental document, Frederick EMICH is paid for work in full; Dr. George L.? Thomas for medical attendance; Dr. John SHEARER. In documents of Commonwealth vs Conrad AMIGH/EMICH, William ENGART and Peter ENGART believe their lives are in danger and that Conrad will do them "bodily harm". This was in 1809. Other folks mentioned (perhaps bonded) were: William ENGART, Jr., Jesse DUNNIT, William McDOLE(McDowell?), and Major McDOLE. This is the Conrad EMICH who marries Mary ENGARD. If they had children, it is believed they were deceased years earlier than the Will. Conrad leaves money to Puff's Church when he dies in 1835. I'd love to hear from you if you have any knowledge to share about these people and those with whom they were associated. Gerre Engard Byrd

Gerre, There appear to be SNIDER/ SCHNEIDER lines in Montgomery Co., but I have not researched this line beyond the marriage of John SNYDER and Elizabeth HINKEL who were in Richlandtown, Bucks Co. The RITTENHOUSE line I believe stayed pretty well in Philadelphia. I will keep your message and let you know if I come across any SNYDER info. which may apply to your line. Jacob arrived on brig "America" in 1771but where did he come from in Germany. Who were parents of Caterina and when did they come. Did Andreas MUEHLSCHLAEGEL s/o Friderick (who arrived on the "Samuel" in 1732) marry Anna Maria EMMERT abt 1752/3 at New Goshenhoppen Reformed, Montgomery Co. or was it Joh. Andreas MUEHLSCHLAEGEL schoolmaster from Weidental, Lachen-Speyerdorf, Germany who arrived on the "Patience" in1750. It is said Jacob GROFF was b.7 Oct 1743 in Lancaster Co., PA but where did that information come from; was it a church register, and if so which one. Who were his parents and siblings. There must be 50 Jacob GROFFs in sw Pennsylvania. These are our stonewalls. Can anyone help us?
