1. [PAMONTGO-L] BOOK: YESTERDAY'S PEOPLE
    2. THE UPPER DUBLIN STORY by Suzanne HILTON. I highly recommend you buy this book if you had folks in this area early to 1850 or so. The "earliest Upper Dubliners" were Wm. & Geo. HARMER, SCULL, BURK, COMLY, MARLE, SOULE, COATES, WYNNE, CLEAVER, ENGART, TANNER, PHILIPS, POTTS, PATRICK, PERRIN, SALAWAY, FITZWATER, MORRIS, HANKS, FARMER, BRADFORD, EVANS, CLARIDGE, KIRK, HOOD, JOHNSON, LODGE, HILLIARD, SMEDLEY, CUNARD, STANLEY, ISSACS, FAIRMAN, HEATON, CORSLEY, HOLME, CRISPIN, SYDDONS, HUBBS, ROBERTS, ELLIS, LEWIS, HEATON, HOOTEN, FAIRMAN, WHITTONS, SPENCER, CHARLESWORTH, KIRK, HOOD. If you ask me for particulars, I may not answer right now. I'm inundated with documentation to post and input, too many emails, and another life. You can purchase the book for $5.00 through the Upper Dublin Library. I found it to be awesome for my research. Gerre Engard Byrd

    1. [PAMONTGO-L] YARNALL
    2. Someone just emailed the Philly-Roots list with this surname. I read the email, but had never picked up a YARNALL, so I "deleted". I then picked up an 1877 map of Montgomery Co. on which is listed "Engardtown Road". All those tiny surnames and the first one I saw was YARNALL (and that is the way it is spelled). She appears to be living right behind where Philip ENGARD had been living from 1755 until all the land passed out of the ENGARD hands. Mary YARNALL is right next door to John HULL who is next door to Chas. T. AIMAN who is next door to C. VAN WINKLE. On the other side of YARNELL is McAFEE & DAVIS, the latter being at the corner (one must be in the ENGARD home) at the corner of Susquehanna and Engardtown Road. The latter is presently Fort Washington Road/Avenue/Street. Gerre Engard Byrd

    1. [PAMONTGO-L] TRIBBLE/TRIEBLE/etc
    2. Are there any TRIBBLE descendants on this list? Please contact me if you have ancestors who were in and around Phila. 1700's, early 1800's. The "TRIBBLE" in my Peter Tribble ENGARD is supposedly a "family name". He was born 1821 in Germantown (Germantown per family records). His mother was a REDHEFER and her mother a RITTENHOUSE. But I don't know his paternal grandmother's surname. Perhaps it was TRIBBLE. Does anyone have a female TRIBBLE who married Philip ENGARD abt 1760 give or take 5 years? Gerre Engard Byrd

    2. I believe Royersford is in Montgomery County and would like to know if anyone can help me with the information on Joseph F. Buzby. Thanks, Lea Simitz Buzby My latest "brick wall" is Joseph F. Buzby of Royersford, Pa. who invented a glass insulator in 1890. CD 141.8 BUZBY in Ice Aqua . I made a contact with a collector of insulators and he sent me a copy of the patent #427,296 dated May 6, 1890; app. filed December 31, 1889; Serial # 335,497 Witnesses. J.E. Snyder and D.R. Rhoads; Model drawing #427,296; May 6, 1890 Witnesses A. Ruppert and H.A. Daniels Attorney Thomas P. Thompson. Have you any inside patent information connections?? I can't seem to get anything. Any help you have time for will be sincerely appreciated! PS I find I am also descended from the Original 13 founders of Germantown, Pa.

I have LUTZ in my database. Looks as though they married STEELEs and resided NC, so not of my ENGARD line directly. However, I think I picked up some ENGARD documentation that addressed LUTZ. Going by memory. Can't find right now in big stack. Gloria, are you saying that you have seen Anna Margaret's name spelled "ENGARD"? That is real important. This is most interesting. Gerre

    1. [PAMONTGO-L] NICHOLAUS ENGART (ENGARD) & CONRAD EMICH
    2. Within the estate papers for Conrad EMICH that I brought home from Montgomery Co. last week, was a document stating, "The petition of Nicholaus ENGART one of the children of Barbara ENGART sister and devisee under the Will of Conrad EMICH late of said county...". Conrad's Will lists dec'd brother, Henry; brother, Nicholaus; sisters, Elizabeth & Barbara. The latter three were residing near Bosdorf/Rosdorf (Germany?). (1827) I have the following documentation for a Nicholaus: Burial - Upper Dublin Lutheran or Old Puffs reads: John N. ENGARD 1772-1861 Buried in same cemetery is Conrad EMICH and ADAM RODEMICH. Census records coordinate with tombstone dates. However, census records for 1850 and 1860 also state Nicholaus was born in Germany. Some of his children are in the "Poor School". He names one son, Philip. I have copy of Will in file of Philip ENGARD (proved 1813), naming 9 children including Nicholaus, with estate being divided nine ways which implies that Nicholaus is a son of Philip. I have a marriage record for Nicholaus and Caty FABRITZ in 1796 - St. Michael's Zion Church, Phila. By 1850, he is married to Margaret/Eva Margaret -------. And per the dates I have accumulated for Philip's kids, Nicholaus was the last one born just 10 1/2 months after the one before him. I know that is possible but doesn't fit the normal pattern. Any ideas? Has anyone encountered an uncle in America taking in a nephew as their child when child's parents are still in Germany? Gerre Engard Byrd

This William FRATT had messuage and land in Whitemarsh Twp. bounded by land of Nicholaus RAPINE and Edward RICE?, situated on the north side of the Ridge Turnpike Road opposite William GILINGER'S Pottery.
